while Richard "O'Nell spoke of the "Old
Guard." "Practical Pytlilanlsm." was the
subject given to W. W. Blabuugh, and
Frank J.. Kelley told the kr.lghts how to
"Increase and Multiply."
The fourteenth annual banquet of the
veterans' association was probably the most
thoroughly enjoyed of any of the previous

CLEVELAND, Feb. 21 "I couldn't say

perfectly still, as I wss commanded to do,"
said President W. 11. Cannlff of the Nickel
Plate railroad In relating his experience
with a burglar at his home at 2 46 o'clock
thla morning.
President Cannlff awoke just In time to
see the burglar, armed with a revolver and
electiio flaahllght, enter the room. Simul
taneously with the awakening the burglar
threw the flashlight onto Mr. Cannlff and
Jumped toward him with revolver pointed
at his bead. V
The burglar cut the wire of the telephone
and kept on backing to a dresser, on which
stood a Jewel case, from which lie took
several rings, valued at $150. He then
backed, out of the room and disappeared.
