BY CONSTANCE CARRUTMERS. WASHINGTON. Oct. 21. (Special to The Bee.) Ho far as the official net I concerned this hid fair to be rather a dull season for formal coming out partle. It bad been hoped the president and Mra. . Tart would present Miss Helen formally to so ciety, but I understand thl will not be tne ca.se. Mia Helen will, according to pres ent plana, quietly take her place In society, and it may be said It will be a prominent place. Many of her associates, like some of th other burls of thi season, "came out last year, leaving her somewhat to a newer circle, in thie. her first season There will, of coure, be a White House ball, perhaps two, and other things in pro portion. Mis Hlldagarde Nagel, daughter of the secretary of commerce and labor, Who probably would have been presented last season but for the deep mourning of her stepmother, which began Just on the eve of the social aeason, will, no .doubt, mingle with the social Ret, but will -at be formally presented. The only diplomatic bud so far sighted la Benorlta Maria Helena de VI lieges, daugh ter of the charge d'affaires of the Argen tine Republic. She la a-beautiful girl, of 4 much charm and cultivation and la fond of the American life and society. There will be two other near-debutante In addition to Miss Nagel. They . will be Miss Louise Cromwell, who was to have made her formal bow last year, and Miss Marguerite Barbour. Miss Cromwell taking quite an active part in the festivities of the past season at Bar Harbor. Mis Bar bour ha apent moat her time getting strong, but will be quite active thla season. The resident circles will produce many buds, as usual. Th army and navy cidclea, which are usually most prolific of dbu tantea, are almost barren of them thl fall.
