IHKlrV-Ttuyers put a little on the top of
the market In the hog yards this morning
and took considerable off of the bottom.
In other words, heavies and up-and-down
mixed met with sharp discrimination and
spread of price widened as a result.
Unod bacon hog sold early at figure
steady to strong, but salesmen were un
able to get vary much action on the bal
ance until later In the morning when Milou
declines prevailed. Bulk of supplies moved
on this hanls heavies and rough heavies
bearing the brunt of the decline. Unod,
heavy hogs had to sell around H lVrjX 15,
mixed ranged from IX.20 to 88 35 and liahts
brought tlis high figures, selected bacon
hog topping at DDK. A large share of re
ceipts went at 88.1891.45. as compared with
yesterday s bulk of 88 48.
Shippers' purchssed quite a few hogs
esrly, but dropped out of the trade after
supply of light and light mixed grades
was exhausted. One of the larger packers
bought very sparingly, also, so that de
mand was at no time very active and move
ment naturally draggy.

SAVE CAR FARE;- LOSE COIN
Two Dunlap, Ia Men Practice Costly

ROBBED BY PAIR OF HOBOES
Jonrne Ins Writ to Ray a farm,

Order to ave the Price of '
a Ticket.
Here Is a revised version of the skeptical
rurallxt who burled hi money In a tin caa
back of the barn rather than trust It to a
bank. Of course somebody happened along
nd unearthed the can and the money. Theta
there was wailing and gnashing ot teeth
In that barnyard.
George Hansen and Karl JJrown of Hun-
lap, la., did not bury tbelr money In a tin
can, but when they decided to buy a tarnt
somewhere In western Nebraska they did
the next thing to the burying act.
They started west in a bb car, bumming
their way. with two gold watches and $74T
n cash In their pockets. When near Coun
cil Bluffs, Jogging along at a merry clip,
exultant over the free ride they were get
ting, two typical hoboes Joined them la
their box car.. Intuition or something else
told the hoboes of the 'Wealth the two Dun-
apltcs carried, and they straightway thrust
revolvers Into their faces and forced them
to disgorge.
The trip wet was abandoned and there wli;
be some delay before any Nebraska farm
land Is transferred to Oeorge Hansen and
Karl Drown of Dunlap, la.
SHEEP A normal run of arass sheep to
day carried a big feeder end, but inquiry
for thin and half-fat giadea from country
sections was especially broad and move
ment was active from the opening, prices
ruled hlgtter on all cla.. its. advances rang
ing from a dime to a quarter. Feeding
wethers that sold at $3.26 yesterday muveu
reaauy at 33.80. and yearlings and ewes
soid equally well, .here were not many
lamos, either feeder or fat, on sale, but
anything In this line has been selling al
most on a par with astern price-levels.
Fat native lambs topped at $i.2o today and
choice westerns are easily quotable at 37.00
or better.
Fat wethers regained practically all of
their early loss, Montana greasers going
at $3.80 with a moderate sort. The right
kind ot owes would bring $H.oO, and choice,
handy weight fat yearllnga are quotable
at $4.8XMi.oo. in a general way, all ot Mon
day's decline has been recovered on ootli
feeder and fat grades, and current sales
are steady to a little higher than those of
laBt Thursday.

me avi nvaia consisted almost entirely ot
range cattle, with only a small sprinkling
of natives and corn-feds. Considering the
large receipts, the market is by no means
in Dad shape, although prices are decidedly
loner than last week.
Good beef steers, both cornfeds and
rangers, were In active demand and the
market on that kind was ateady and In
some cases possibly utroitger. As high as
$7.86 waa paid for good cornfeds. On the
other hand the common to fair kinds were
notn siow ana lower.
Right good cows and heifers did not show
much change in prices as aompared with
yesterday, but the less desirable kind were
slow to lower. -
Good feeders did not differ In value verv
materially as compared with yesterday, but
light cattle were around lo&loc lower. To
put It another . way, good feeders are 16
360 lower and common feeders and light
stockers around 362160a lower than last
