Abroad, Makes Observations on
Monetary Systrm.

but the most pleasant part of our trip
abroad was the homecoming, and I feel

returned from a four months' tour of
Europe with Mr. McGrew and their

York and traveled all through Europe

was met and greetings were exchanged.
They were present In England at the time
of King Edward's funeral and were tn
Rome during the Roosevelt controversy.
"I never saw such apparent sorrow,"
said Mr. McQrew, "as tn England at the
time of the death of King Edward. 1
have seen mourning for president In Amer
ica, but it did not compare with the ln
cere sorrow shown In Enaland.
"Previous to the death of King Edward
the one topic which liuerestcd the whole of
Europe waa Roosevelt. I as in Rome at
the lime of the miunderstandlng with the
pope and would say that th. matter was
not taken aa seriously there as in this
country.
"One of the striking things which I no
ticed while traveling In Europe waa the
absence of circulation of gold In many
countries. Cold seemed to be scarce, bu,i

cepted for Its face value. This seemed to
me to show that the foreign countries
have a high opinion of eur American
banks. I have been opposed to the central
bank plan, and while In Europe saw noth
ing to make me change my mind."

committee were wound up at a meeting
held Friday noon. Plans fur the future
were also discussed In a preliminary wn.
Eery member of the committee was
present and showed much Interest in the
met ting.
After hearing the report on th financial
outcome of the trip, It was unanimously
decided to appoint a small committee to
look over the lccal field with the Idea ot
arranging a trip of four or five daya next
fall, probably some time In Ootober. Just
what direction will be taken was not de.
tet mined, but a Journey either Into North
eastern Nebraska, th entire South Platte
country, or a four-day trip divided be
tween southeastern Nebraska and south
western Iowa was suggested. There Is a
great demand for all of these and the
difficulty In arranging for one of them will
be the matter of deciding which is the
most imperative.
