"Oh, dear!" sighed the Bosb' wife plaint
ively. "Oh, dear! 1 thought you said this
was an exclusive apartment house! She
half bowed to me when she came In."
"Oh, did she?" exclaimed the Boss sav

housekeeping apartment In this place?"
"About twice as much as we paid for the
one we have Just moved from," his wife

"Take one tomorrow!" commanded the
Boss.
"My wife had a crazy idea about our
living In a boarding house Just for the

by crop advices seemed to he accepted with j
reluctance. The early decline of wheat on '
reports or rains In the southwest with the j
subsequent recovery and renewal of fears
of damage fairly measured the Influence of
ihe subject In the stock market.
It was commented upon that Pennsvl-
vanla suffered no mor" than Ihe average i
decline, although the directors refrained
from advancing Ihe dividend rate. Returns
of March net earnings showed the eastern I
trunk lines rather better off In the propor
tion of gross increases conserved for the'
net than in the case of lines In some othr ;
parts of the country. Inspired Intlma- I
Ions were given out of coining Increase;
in rates on the part of eastern railroads
in consonance with the Increases announced
by western trunk lines.
