Mra. A. B. Hunt Is formulating plana
by which she hopes to provids a free pub
lic swimming beaeh for Omaha. While
her plana are still too Indefinite to an
nounce she expects t raise th necessary
funds by a aerlea ef entertainments, for
which, she and Mr. Hunt will open their
home, Mlnne Lus Lodge at Florence,
probably soon after her return from Min
nesota In the fall. Speaking of her plan
Mrs. Hunt said:
"Omaha I destitute of a place where
our boys may go to bath. It seems to
me that such place mlgTU be supplied at
Cut-Off lake, If soms of our public-spirited
citizens could be Interested. The beach
would hare to be cleared ef the weeds and
moss that make the lake dangerous now,
and bath houses will have te be supplied.
There la no good reason why Courtland
beach or some other place along the Ink
cannot be made a beauty spot aa well aa
a public bathing plaee, and the frequently
talked of drives about the lake, ft reality.
Scores of "Omaha people summer at lake
Manawa every year who would be glad
to build cottages at Cut-Oft lake If tha
condition were only a little more favora
ble. I bejlevo that a public bathing beach
might be mad th nucleus of a beautiful
as well a ft much needed resort for
Omaha."
Considering Mr. Hunt's public spirit and
th suceees with which she haa managed
aeveral other large undertakings In the
past, th proposed beach premises to be
come ft reality early next season. 1
