in a ninth Inning finish that w a corker
Omaha won the third and odd ime of the
series from Denver by the score of I to
4 at Pa lot Monday afternoon before the
grandstand well filled with women, who
had taken advantage of the fact that it was
ladies' day.
The score was 4 to 2 in favor of the
Champs when Denver came to bat for the
first half of the ninth inning and It lookd
like a cinch, for the tall-end of the batting
order was billed to face War Sanders. The
first two, McGllvray and Lucia, were easy
outs, when Engle essayed to start some
thing by whanging a triple to left field.
McHale brought him home by a double
to left. Lawler booted llartzell'a drive and
things began to look squally, especially
when Randall singled to right and scored
McHale. The best Belden could do was to
give Martin a hard chance, which he ac
cepted and caught the runner at first, and
the Champs had their half of the ninth
left In which to break the tie.
8ander was the first batter up in the
ninth for the Champs and he showed that
he meant business by driving a hard one,
his second hit of the game, by Hoelskoettcr.
Thell attempted to sacrifice and Bunders
was caught at second. Carter mtidn a neat
single, also his second for tho game, and
Thell went to second. Dolan's single to left
field broke up the game.
How the Ran Were Made.
Omaha made one In the first Inning.
After Thell had popped an easy one to
first, Carter singled, went to second on a
wild pitch, third on a passed ball and
scored on Welch's single past first. Den
ver mude two In the second by three singles
and a stolen base, Belden hit safe and
Perrlne sacrificed him to second 'and IIocI
akoelter was an easy out. McClllvray singled
and scored Beldcn. Lucia's single put Mc
Gllvray on third and then an attempt at a
double steal brought home the second run,
because of the butcher's attempt to catch
Lucia at second.
The Champs made three more in the sixth
Inning by means of four hits, a base on
balls and a passed ball. Thell singled, was
sacrificed to second by Carter and scored
on Dolan's double to right field. A passed
ball advanced Dolan to third and he scored
on the throw-In of Doctor Welch's out to
Old Sport. Martin walked and Schlpke b
single sent him to second and he scored
a minute later on Lawler's single through
the pitcher. Freese got a rap in the ribs
and Sanders knocked an easy one to first.
Both of the pitchers were hit hard, but
Sanders had the better of the argument, as
he did not pass a man and except in the
last Inning kept his hits well scattered.
Carter made a nice record at the bat, as he
is credited with two hits In two times at
bat; both the other times that he faced the
pitcher he sacrificed Thell to second. The
Champions go from here to 8t. Joseph for
four games and will return Saturday for
three games with St. Joseph on the home
grounds. Attendance, 700. Score:

ST. JOSEPH. Mo., June 19.-Brilliant
fielding by Colorado Springs and the In
ability of the loculs to handle Stlmmel
shut St, Joseph out today by a score of
8 to 0. Stlmmel held the locals to three
" scattering singles and was accorded error
less support, the visitors accepting nu
merous seemingly Impossible chances. Melze
scored all three runs with terrific triples
to left and center. Badur in the second
hit and went to second on a rank fumble
by Qulllln. iCnabe got on by a choice and
Metxe hit, scoring both. Knabe hit in the
fourth and was pushed along by Frlsbee's
sacrifice. Metse again ripped out a triple,
scoring another. St. Joseph's Inability to
hit with tho bases filled was demonstrated
in three innings. Pennell's circus catch of
a low drive by Qullllu was a feature. At

COLORADO
AND BACK
June 30 to July 4 the Burlington will sell tickets to
Denvei', Colorado Springs and Pueblo and return at this
remarkably low rate.
Colorado is a mile higher than tide water. Every cubio
foot of her atmosphere is charged with vitalizing ozone. A
complete change of atmosphere and living are the first
necessities of a vacation. Colorado's crisp mountain air,
cool nights, vivifying waters and outdoor life thoroughly
restore a depleted system.
Better go! Write or call at this office, and I will be glad
to furnish you with a copy of our new Colorado Hand Book
just off the press which contains a wealth of information
about hotels and boarding houses in Colorado. It's free.
Dally until September 30 tickets will be on sale to Colorado and return at $17.60,

Local Officials Make No Attempt to
Arrest So-Called Bookmakers.
ST. LOUIS, June 19. Despite Governor
Folk's order to the sheriff of St. Louis
county directing him to arrest all principals
and accessories found violating the anti

Saturday no arrests were made today at
Delmar race track, although six so-called
bookmakers did a fair business. A deputy
sheriff was present until after the last race.
R. L. Johnston, prosecuting attorney of St.
Louis county, arrived Just before the last
race and carefully wat"hed the transac
tions between the betters and bookmakers,
but did not say what action Ur- might
take. The prosecuting attorney said, how
ever, that the case against George iChrllch,
who was arrested Saturday on the charge
of violating the anti-belting law, and which
was to have come up for trial tomorrow,
will be passed for lack of evidence.
