lieavy shipments ol corn have helped the
Blunts who have not already been stam
jeued, and the reaction toward a lower
price continues. There was a loss In all
.months, hut thlefly, of course, in Way.
Today s letup's at Omaha were luj cars
and Chicago got bu2 ears. May closed at
4;V:, July at 4c, old July at 4in, Sep
tember at 4iHc and old bipiember at 4ho.
Oats were steady at about the same
Jlgures. May finished at aic, July at iua
and Hepteniber at 8'H;.
i nree cars of corn changed hands on
exchange, and the price was lower than
yesterday. The grain was io. I. No. 1
held tho same prices. The cash wheat
buuli.ess has been slow for a few days
and there is very little coming Into the
cny.
The tone of the crop damage advices yes
terday was a little mure nnsttlve limn
liefore. The chief complaint was that
wheat was heading out short and was thin
on the ground. Missouri told of smut. Tho
damage reports came Irom Tennessee, Ken
tucky and Missouri and the southwestern
ections, which have previously made bad
reports. Tho news from Ohio and In
diana was good. The weather northwest
was fair and enol and no damage, reports
camn from spring wheat territory. Never
theless, the spring wheat markets closvd
higher.
Bales. of cash corn In Chicago yosterday
were 300.000 bushels, Including 100,000 bushels
for direct export. Most of the corn Is
going to Montreal and over 600,000 bushels
were sold and chartered for that port this
week. The seaboard sold 100,000 bushels
for export.
The total wheat stock at Minneapolis Is
now 7,158,467 bushels Including 4.4.r0,Si4
bushcln of No, 1. This shows a decrease
for the week of 275.X49 bushels. The 1e
mnncl for cash wheat at Minneapolis was
slow at today's opening, No. 1 selling about
lc over the May price; No. 2 sold early at
2o over the July price, but later was the
si'. me as July. Minneapolis has lately been
drawing about as much wheat as all the
other markets combined. There has been
a noticeable falling off In the last two
' 'lays in the milling demand. Australian
' wheat shipments for the last week were
.r.52,000 bushels and for the previous week
DMl.OiiO bushels. Dallas. Tex., reports t,hat
the harvest will begin next week If the
weather la favorable and says that the
state will yield 15.0ii0.000 bushels.
At Liverpool Wheat closed quiet at ttgHd
Hinder and corn quiet at Vrt nigner. .Ber
lin rinsed unchanged.
Hroomhall cabled from IJverpool: "Tho
world's wheat shlninents for the cast week
nre estimated at 9.000,000 bushels, against
ll.nM.onn hnshels the tirevious week. Of this
quantity Europe will take about 8,000,000
bushels. There will be some decrease In
the quantity of breadstuffs on passage. Ar
rivals of breadstuff Into the United King
dom during tha past week were about 4.
000,000 bushels, ngnlnst 3.&7O.O0O bushels the
week before and 4.414,000 buehels last year.
Todav's Inter-Ocean lavs'. "The south
west, although a good buyer of wheat, sent
In more reports yesterday of crop damage
than btivlng orders. It nas surprised the
trade of late to see the comparative weak
ness in the southwestern markets In tho
lace of bad crop reports. Kansas City
closed VfffV4e lower and 8t. tenuis aC
higher to lo lower. Generally when there
Is legitimate damage to the winter wheat
crop, St. Louis traders are always the first
to load ud. One of the largest tit. Loul
traders, who has been very bearish, has
bought September here steadily for two
days and la very bullish."

partially to' a heavy movement of wheat
to norinwestern grain eenvers, cnuseu a
weak wheat market today. At the close
the July delivery was off lV21c. In
fluenced by extraordinarily heavy receipts,
tne tirice or May corn continued its nown
ward plunge, the closing figure today of
49c being the lowest point of the day, a
loss of 'c compared wlh yesterday s llnai
quotations. July corn Is off "Sc. Oats
and provisions are almost unchanged.
The wheat market was wenk from the
start. Initial quotations on July being otf
V He at !mfi!)lc. The principal cause of
the weakness was the unusually heavy re
ceipts at Minneapolis and crop news. An
estimate Kin the report of Kansas made by
officials of a certain railroad was generally
conceded to be quite bearish and this had
much influence on the market. For July
the lowest point of the day was reached
at 9o'4c The market closed practically at
the lowest point. Final Quotations on July
were at sOWac. Clearances of wheat
and flour were eoun.1 to lld.9U0 bu. I'rl
mary receipts were 42S.OOO bu., compared
with 90.00 a year aero. Mlnneauolls. Luluth
and Chicago reported receipts of 329 cars,
against 210 last week and 64 a year ago.
The feature of trading In the corn pit
was another decline of (iiic In the price of
May delivery. The lowest point 4)f the day
was reached at 49c. the final limitation.
The sensational decline was attributed al
most who'Jy t the enormous receipts, ar
rivals today being 851 cars, of which 632
were of contract grade, That the bull cam
paign was ended was admitted by the ma
jority of traders. It was said that several
big settlementa were made today by for
eign shorts and that the principal short
lines were now almost entirely eliminated.
Distant deliveries were affocted by the
weakness of Mpv. July opened c lower

LONDON, May 27. Money was abundant
In the market today and the demand was
moderate. Discounts were steady. Trad
ing on the Stock exchange was dull and
prices were steady. .Business was confined
to levelling accounts prior to the carry-over
on Monday. Consols were a fraction easier.
Americans opened firm and prices wero
maintained throughout at about parity.
After a meagre amount of business the
market closed quiet. The feature was the
continued strength of New York, Ontario
& Western on Manchurlan rumors. For
eigners were neglected. Imperial Japanese
6s of 1904 were quoted at 1.01.
BERLIN, May 27. On the Bourse today
traders acted In a hesitating manner and
little business was transacted.
PARIS, May 27. Prices 011 the Bourse
were tlrm, owing to the New York advices
but at the closing the market generally
was auu, as a result of tiie gold mines.
Russian Imperial 4s were quoted at o9.07
and Kusslun bonds of j:4 at 604.

there did not seem to be much urgenoy,
and packers bought the stuff In fairly good
season. Tuesday's market ruled steady,
vltli a fair demand, but a break at eastern
points Influenced tne market here and on
Wednesday there was a break of a dime,

bulls, veal calvea and stags show about
the same decline as other cattle and are
16&26c lower for the week.
There waa an unusually light offering
of stockers and feeders this week, and It Is
on this account that the market has held
Its own. There was a good demand for
the cattle, and as the receipts were light,
buyers picked them up at right around
steady prices all week. Some heavy cattle
may look a little lower, but the genera)
market ruled ateady.

HOGS There waa a good lun of hogs
here for a Saturday, about 130 loads bcluix;
on sale. There was a little weakness to
early report from other points and this
market was affected to some extent. Re
ceipts arrived early and buyers were out in
good time. The market opened with bids
right around steady and some hogs sold
that way. After the first round, however,
the market eased off and trading becamo
dull and draggy. Buyers were bearish and
sellers were forced to take oft some on
the price. Trading, later In the forenoon

day and most of the hogs changed hands

with several loads early at o.2u, tops reach

all the hogs were disposed of in good sea
son, the market closing at the lowest point
of the day.
For the weeK ine marget snows no
notable features. The first of the week the
market ruled nigner man at tne close of
last week, but broke on Wednesday, when
receipta were the heaviest of the year. The
market showed a decline of a shilling on
that day and did not recover all the loss.
The market for the last three days of the
week ruled lower, closing about 6jjl0o
lower than the close of the previous week.
