At the beginning of the month It was 8.i0,o bushels, but it has been cut down by deliveries since. There were about 2t). CM bushels of contract corn In store at the beginning of the month and there have been about LOoo.OOO more bushels produced since. All of It is now owned bv Martieit Fraxier, who took In yesterday 3w,v bushels, comprising the tall-eud of the Wrenn holdings, and 36.000 bushels more that came from Armour. At the rate of 809 cars average a day for the remainder of the month and with corn running as at present in finality, there could be easily l.&Ou.OOO bushels turned out by the cleaning and mixing houses. I'nless there should ie a severe and protrHded change in the weather sufficient to prevent shelling, the receipts might easily run double the WO cars average. With the wide advertising that the deal has had it is more probable that with good weather the shorts could find corn enough, in any event, to deliver 2.0o,00n bushels of contract. Receivers were flooded yesterday with Inquiries, from coun try shippers as to the placing of corn here. The answers were Invariably nf the sort to hasten consignments, nobody being will ing to make bids anywhere near the May basis, which the owner of the corn could, of course, easily get ir the corn were here. The receivers said there was no question about the receipts being large the re mainder of the month If tne weather holds fair." As the month neara Its close, there is a large Increase in the movement of corn. The railroads brought Into Omaha twenty nine cars of corn today and twenty-two yesterday. While this is very small In comparison with the daily M) or 3 cars which were received In the late winter, yet 1 it la double a hat has been coming In for the last two or three weeks. The other markets show the same Increase. Chicago received 12 cars yesterday and 270 today. All grains are going out of Omaha elevators considerably faster than they are coining in. While twenty-nine cars of corn, eight of oats and no wheat at all was received today, the shipments out were seventeen cars of wheat, forty-one of corn and seven of oats. It happened that more oats were received than shipped for the one day, but this hag not been the rule lately. The foreign wheat market advanced some on the strength of American markets, but was checked by reports of ruins In southern Russia. Corn was firm in symiwthy with American and Argentina markets. At Liverpool wheat -closed Vfifo higher and corn H'SH" higher. The Minneapolis flour trade has been dull for the last week, the txrrart trade being light. The mills there have Increased their weekly output 16,411 barrels. A special to tne Adams orain company says that Inglis is still reporting damage to the wheat in Indiana. .A wire to Sunderland & l'pdlke quotes 4..promi n4flo Chicago ifwrv-rtealer" a saying that the amount of oats in country elevators and in farmers' hands is very Hunt. While Losses Are C omareheaslve They Are ot aafflelent to Wipe Oat Wednesday's 4aias. NEW YORK. Mav 25. The strong open ing In today's Mock market was tne over flow effect of yesterday s vigorous recovery. The buying, however, died out almost com pletely after the first hour. Hut with the perception cf the unsubstantial character of the demat.d stocks began to dribble on the market and prices to crumble. Instead of the gams shown at the opening the course ot the dav's trading established comprehensive losses. These were by no means sufficient to wipe out yesterday a gains, but the reversal In tone was de cisive. The Inference was drawn that yes terday's buying came more from an alarmed short interest than from any good Information on developments In the situa tion. As a consequence much less Im portance was attached to the reported set tlement of differences In the northwestern rsilroad field. The stock market world was Inclined to take long breaths over the stress of the situation In the northwestern railroad field at one time as disclosed by the authoritative intimations of the dangers of new averted rate wars and mutual In vasions of territory with newly built exten sions. The satisfaction la Indisputable with which security owners regard the fact that riearet'ul adlustment has been made. The unconfirmed rumors of a naval battle was a disturbing influence on all specula tive markets and In our grain market the weather report affected the price of wneat. while the attempted corner in May corn was a continulna influence In that market The reported dissolution of the steel rail pool was accepted as an explanation of some of the past weaknesses of the United tttates steel stocks and was regaraen as a movement toward conformity with an ex isting state of public opinion and Its threatened results in legislative action. SHEEP There was a very light run of sheep here this morning, only four cara be ing on sale. For the nrst three days of the week the receiDts were heavier than the corresponding tnree days of last week, and the general quality of the stuff waa good. The receipts so far this week have con sisted largely of lambs, and buyers, in con sequence of the heavy supply, have not been, so hungry for this class of stuff. There were three cars of clipped lambs on sale today which sold at steady prices. Sheep have been In the best demand all the week and today they were picked up at right around steady prices. I here waa hardly enough stuff here to make a mar ket, but what there was told quite readily. Two cara of shorn lambs sold up to $5.75 today and a deck of shorn ewes brought $4.25. Everything waa cleaned up in good season and the market could beat be quoted as generally steady.
