CThe object Is to educate the people In
th matter of streets and public hlahwava
and to advocate permanent good roads
after the government model. A different !
demonstration Is given, according to the
varying conditions of the country," said
lit Loucks. ' '
'One of tho roads which, we tliiiik, will
be especially adapted to western Nebraska,
where there Is some sand, is the oil road.
This Is made -by grading and draining a
common road, which Is then rolled with a
ten-ton roller until It has a hard surface
with a good pitch. After a few months of
travel -the weak spots are fixed and a
splendid road results, similar to the famous
rods pf California.
"Demonstrations also are made on a
macadam road, the special ' feature of
whfch Is that it Is put In wet and a surface
of ftnported silicate added. This Is screened

jpur object will be to agitate the matter
In tWh town and to perfect an organisation
which will be In touch with the National

aeijtt delegates to Lincoln when we have

to' Jiave the counties to apply the . road

W will strive to have a state highway
commissioner who Is a skilled engineer
apfmlnted. We will also attempt to have
a lw passed abolishing the system of pay
ment of poll tax by the work-out plan, but
rattier the payment made In cash.
W believe in the use of convicts for
th. rod work and many of the southern
stiytes are constructing splendid roads by
tliej use of their convicts. We also believe
In state aid to help out the county funds."

"The squabble so far has not In the least
