For the week receipt have been quite liberal for Thanksgiving week, there being an Increase over the same week of last year amounting to 6,00 head. As compared with lam week, however, there is a decrease of about 6,000 head. Very few cornfed steers arrived this week and most of those that were offered were of the short fed variety. It was evident that packers were anxious for well fin ished cattle and such kinds could safely be quoted a little higher than they were a week ago. The common and warmed up cattle, however, were neglected to somo extent and are certainly no more than steady with the close of last week. Good trt choice cattle may be quoted from 85.50 to 66 60; fair to food, 34.i5d5.50, and the common to fair cattle from 83.60 to 84.26. Quite a liberal proportion of the receipts thia week has consisted of western range beef steers. The early part of tho week fiackers were rather bearish and succeeded n breaking the market to some extent, but the latter half of the week prices strengthened and closing prices are Just about the same ns those in effect a week ago. Good to choice cattle have been rather scarce, but they may be quoted from 34.W) to 34.85; fair to good, 33.25 to 83.90, and the commoner kinds from 33.15 down. The tendency of the mr,rl:et on cows bss been downward this week end a nat lost as compared with the cose ui .. amounting to UKft.5.- Is noted. Ail kinds have Buttered in the decline, though the medium to good cows have broke more tiian earners. A few corofeds are be ginning to show up In the receipts, but most of them are not very good and sell in much the same notches as the better grades of grab-sera. Good to choice gras.4 cow are selling largely from 32.76 to 33.25 and a choice bunch of cornfeda would sell up to 81.50 or even better. Fulr to good cows rell from 82.25 to 32.60 and canners and cutters from $1.76 to $3.26. Bulls and calves have not changed much during the week. Fat bulls are selling largely from $3.60 to $3.26 and feeder bulls from $2.00 to $2.35. The supply of stoekers and feeders ha not been very hea ,-y this week an, with a fair demand for (he better graa prices have held fully eteady. Buyers seem to want cattle of good quality and anything, regardless of weight, which answer that description, meets with ready sale. Com mon kinds, though, are neglected and are a. trifle lower than they were a wek ago. Good to choice grades may be quoted from $3.50 to $4. IX); fair to good, $3.10 to $.1.40, and tne less desirable grades Irom 83.00 down. Stock heifer are about steady for the week, most of them selling from $2.00 to $2.60. At the open ing packers were only offering atrnng pilees and a few loada sold that way or lurgely at 84.50. It aoon became evident, how ever, that th demand was brisk and as a result the market kept Improving until toward the clone it was fully 6e higher than yesterday' average. Trading was active, ao that everything excent a few late arrivals sold before the middle of the forenoon. The bulk of the hogs went from 34.50 to 34.65, with a very prime load of heavy hogs s high as $4.60. Some of the common stuff sold under $4.60. For the week the receipts have been quit liberal, there being an increase over last week of about 7,0u0 head, and a compared with the same week of lsst year there Is a fraln of about 11,000 head. Owing to th Iberal receipts, not only here, but at all points, the market has moved steadily downward, until today, when there was a slight reaction. SM Inl film TO ALL REGULAR SHIPPERS AND PROSPECTIVE SHIPPERS OF CORN: ly povornment, Rtate and private authorities, it is agrttni that tho Corn crop this year is very larpp; especially is this true of Iowa and Nebraska. . To secure a market for the large surpluses fronl these states at best possible prices is what thousands of shippers will soon be looking for. To this end we offer our service's, believing confidently that we are in n position to so handle your consignments as to save for you all the profits. To begin with, we will say by way of introduction, that through years of experience as receivers of grain in car lots, including Wheat, Oats, Itarley, Corn and the Seeds, we have so built up and increased our business that today we are handling nearly as many cnr.4 of grain on the crop at Duluth as any other one firm, and 'the same is equally true of our business at Minucnixdis, which, neetllp!8 to say, has earned for us an enviable reputation among the grain growers of the Northwest In that practically nil of our shipments are direct from the producer. The long list of shippers to the above markets has steadily in creased each year and is the result of our superior facilities for getting the very best prices obtainable, as well as our liberal advances and prompt returns. To those who have only a few cars of Corn to sell, and such is the case generally with the individual shipper, the question of getting full market prices is important, and tt'i do this the plan to follow is a simple one. After you have loaded your car, co'nsign the Kline to Edwards-Woods Co., 110-111 Hoard of Trade Ituilding, Omaha, Nebraska, and for ward to us at that address bill of lading., Should you ties! re a part of your money in advance, this you can get by making draft with bill of lading attached, which will be honored by us for 7.1 per cent of the value of the contents of the car. When the car arrives, we will sell it promptly for you, deducting our commission, monits advanced, if any, also freight and such other expenses as switching, inspection, etc. In a former communication, we outlined our views on the probable course of prices for Corn during this fall and winter. On this point, we have nothing new to add at this time, nor do we see any reason to change our opinion from the position we them took. We think, however, that if inquiry is made funon? the feeders of your state, you will find there will be 30 to 40 per cent lef-s Corn used for fenling purposes this year than last. All this difference must necessarily be shipped to mirket, nnd it is because of this anticipated in crease in offerings of Corn, which must be disposed of for uses that annually require but a 87nall per cent of the production of this cer eal that producers will want to place their consignments in the hands of a firm of broad experience, where those in charge are thor oughly schooletl in every detail of the business and are able to locate 'for you a purchaser at prices thtit will be entirely satisfactory to you. We believe a trial shipment will convince you of all that we have said, and, in the future, you will be one of our steady shippers. Write us when you have anything to offer. mumm (INCORPORATED). There was lass doing in the apeculatlvo markets, but there wan a rather better de mand for caHh grain. The receipts af wheat In Omaha weie light, practically no good grade being on the market, and a a result price were but Utile belter than normal, but hud there been a eupply the demand would have Quickly absorbed it. In the upeculutive center there was a dis position to even trades. The absence of Armour buying was alo noticed, and th!s was sufficient to encourage the bears to more energy. Cable were slightly higher. Indicating somo uncertainty over the Ar- fentlno sltuatlcn. although the smaller Vorld' shipments may have had eome Influence. The outslUu markets showed llttla change. Kansas Cite wa practically the same ns yesterday, Minneapolis wns slightly lower and Duluth unchanged. 8t.
