SIOUX FALLS. 8. D.. . Nov. 19.-fSDe- cial.) Reports from various portions of the Black Hills are to the effect that the opening of the deer shooting season on the 15th Inst, found scores of bunting parties organized and ready for the sport of hunt ing and shooting these animals. All re ports agree that deer are more numerous than for years and rare sport la anticipated during the open season. During the closed season there were prac tically no attempt made to kill the ani mals and violate the law, and the result was that on the opening day of the open season deer, in addition to being unusually numerous, were also quite tame. One' of the favorite resorts for deer I what is known as the Cold Springs region, and it was to that part of the Black Hills that many of the hunters proceeded at the open ing of the season. The timber in the Black Hills Is more open than that In the deer hunting sections of Wisconsin and Minnesota, and there is little fear of hunters being killed through being mistaken for deer or by stray bullets, thus making the hunting of deer much safer than in the other two state named.
