GRABS FEMALE VICTIMS ON STREETS Sereral Cases - Are Reported , to Authorities and in Each De scription of Calprlt la the Sauie. Omaha police and detectives are on the still hunt for a man evidently with a pen chant for kidnaping women. They ara not ready to saddle the crimes off on the Indubitable Sir Patrick Crowe, for history records that Sir Patrick never tackled adults, and then the follow, now wanted carries off his victims in his arms, whlie the peerleas brigand of former daya was wont to loud his in wagons and lug them away to some secluded apot, there to remain until the family came with the coin. Another point of differenco is that 'Siiulre Crowe never was suspected of pick ing out a victim he could not cash In at a good price, while the present day man thief aesma a bit indiscriminate- us to tho finan cial status of hi victims. The only woman who hat had the courago thus far to give her name to th) police is Miss HeUn fiukttc tf 30J N.nh Klghteentn street, tine reports she was hurrying home about 11 o'clock Thursday evening, when at Eighteenth and Chicago streets a large and repulsive appeur.nj man stoppel her and asked whera she wis going. Before shs could puss the stranger he picked her up bodily In bis arms and carried her nearly fifty feet. Miss l'lckstt screamed as loud as she could. The door of a nearby house was heard to open and the man dropped tho frightened woniin to the ground and ran along the alley snl ads bis escape. The s'.ranger did r.oi say anything further to his victim except ts ark her destination. MIhs Pickett Imme diately reported the matter to police head quarters and detectives were placed on the esse. Heverat other reports of a similar nature have been received by the poUce, the de scriptions of the matt In each case tallying in a general way. A msn giving the nam of A. C. Smith, erreuted lata Thursday night on the charge of being drunk, was thought to bs the guilty party, but so far the authorise have failed to connect him with the offenses reported. DOMESTIC DRAIVfA IN COURT llnsbaud ami Wife Get Their Tronbles Settled nnd Go on Way Itejolclna;. Those who attended police court this morning were treated to a pretty little do mestic drama in which Joseph and Marie Volte, husband and wife, living at 2026 Cal ifornia street, occupied tho center of the stage. Up to tho time of the climax, which oc curred in the court room, Volte occupied a cell at the city Jail on the charge of wife abandonment, preferred by his wife. Through the kindly offices of Sergeants of Police Whelan and Sigwart and Police Judge Berka the charge was dismissed against the husband, who kissed his wife In the court room and led her by the arm out of the judicial chamber, a tear drop trickling down hla cheek and minting with a smile that brightened his countenance as he realised he had regained his liberty and the love of the wife he had mistreated. He waa fully penitent and promlted to go and stn no more, and care for her whom six years ago he had pledged to protect from the storms of life. Volte was arrested on complaint of his wife, who charged nonsupport. She was on hand to appear against - her improvident husbsnd, but when the matter of recon ciliation waa broached to her she was prompt to forgive and forget. Before the case was called In police court Sergeant Whelon saw Volte in his cell and told him his wife had come to appear against .him. Volte blunched and ai'ked what the iwnalty might be in case of con viction, lis was told there was the possi bility of a penitentiary entence being Im posed in the district court. "But," exclaimed Volte, "I can prov I gav her 28 cents a few days ago, which was all the money I had. How can she prov nonsupport?" Sergeant Sigwart then cam In snd told Volte if h would express a willingness to look after his wife hereafter she would dismiss th complaint. Vslte was taken out into the court room and warned by Assistant County Attorney Kennedy, author of the law under which Volt was arraigned, that his dismissal waa contingent on future support of his wife. Then the husband and wife stood ride by sld before the police magistrate, who dismissed them with his blessing. A kits, a tear drop and a Joining of axma and the twain left the court room to again face th realities of life. Marrlaa Licenses.
