Announcements of the Theaters.
One of the most notable of the comic
opera engagements of the winter has been
sprung on Omaha rather suddenly owing to
the change In tho route of the Henry W.
Sava;e success, "Woodland." This piece
was produced In Boston last spring and run
there during the entire summer, was takes)
to Chicago, where It has Just completed
run of two months, and will go frost
Omaha te New York for a Broadway en
gagement It is by Pixley and Luders and
is said to be the best thin they have jet
turned out. In the cast are many of the
best known people connected with oonilo
opera In this country, Cherldah Simpson,
Emma Carus and such nsmes leading on
the female side of the roster, and Harry
Bulger snd an equally fine list on the
other. The engagement Is for Saturday
afternoon and evening only,
Avery Strakosch, the noted opera singer,
Is scorin heavily Ht the Orpheum thlf
week. She has a voice of great, range snd
depth that shows careful t mining. She Is
gracious and shows good taste In her se
lections. Another excellent .feature that It,
pleasing the large audiences is the Meirost
troupe. They are remojkably clever acro
bats. A matinee will be given Saturday.
