' After -battlna the Sioux i City team . of 'base ball players U over the Vinton street a-roftnds 'fof several days,' Pa Rourkes bunch of sluggers' laid down In the dust 'talc yesterday afternoon and. allowed the Sioux to Jump over them, once being shut out. It) th, first game Brown was hit very -inning except the last, there haying been , eleven .hits In all and one sacrifice. Bat .out ot- this -carnage the visitors man aged to make only three runs, even If Thomas did make three errors. After Captain Fleming's crew made three runs In the first Innings Pa's boys worked bard to overcome the lead and prevent a shut-out, but the best they could do throughout ths game with Cadwallader was four scattered bits In as many Innings, which hits went tlo In smoke like a paper balloon. Even Thlel could not get a stolen base In this game, and a large bunch of crepe was noticed pinned on the coat of the lttle boy on the center field fence. During the second game the rainbow of hone was notloed several times over the home bench, but the bow finally disap peared,' and .-the Sioux City laddies plucked another u right In Pa's own yard. It was Companion versus Jarrott for a few Innings, but when. In the second, Jarrott got off the rails and allowed the Rangers to make six hits, Fleming replaced him with Kostal. . Pa's kids made five runs out of the six hits In the second Inning. This looked really fine. For four Innings Pa and his pirates kept the score C to o, but In the fifth Corripahlon, who pitched the first game In many weeks, went up In a balloon, and when he cams down the- Bioux had tied the score In the one Inning. Quick was then placed In the box for trie local team. The Iowa men made two more runs during the game. The high school management protested vigorously, but now must accept a date In the middle of the week early In October or there will be no game at all. Booth argues that there are too many chances Involved of permanently maiming or Incapacitating his players by putting them into a game with only three or four days' practice, and the athletic board has decreed that the big coach shall have his way about It. Booth will bring two or three easterners with him when he arrives from New York. The newcomers are desirous of joining Ne braska's foot ball squad to learn the game as It Is played In the west.
