Not a trad was made today on the
Omaha market In grain for futura delivery.
Conditions did not please the local crowd,
and Van lioin and others offered wheat and
put the maraet down from asc to too In the
May and to 79c In July. Chicago May
went off ISc at the lowtst point, but later
gained a naif cent. '1 he new July also
weakened aliout 1 point. The strength of
the market Thursday was due to a mlsun
Oerstanding of a report from Editor Jonoa
of the Commercial Went, who la making a
tour of the winter wheat belt. Thin waa

and Oklahoma waa hopeless, when ha really

made his inspection. Rains are reported
from almost all the belt, and pros pec ta are
much Improved. The better weather prob
ably will weaken the market.
The bullish support this morning waa due
to the Modern Miller, which gave the cold
weather, with freezing In some aeotlona, as
having put the crop back two weeks be
hind the average. There waa plenty of
moltaure, and sunshine and warmth were
needed. A lara-e irM in tha umthw...

For a minute or two at the beginning of

of uncertainty; price were about where

CATTLE There were over 100 cars of cat
tle on aale thla morning, which waa a lib
eral run for a Friday considering the heavy
receipts an ine weea. ine maraet, tnougn,
did not chow a great deal of change from
yesterday, although there wua more or less
uneveness In the prloes paid.
Beef steers could be quoted steady to a
shade easier. The kinds that just suited
buyers were bought up quite freely at
steady prices, but when It came to Inferior
grades trading was rather alow, with the
feeling a little weak rather than otherwlae.
There was not the snap and tone to the
market that characterised the trade yester
day, and under such circumstances some
cattle are bound to sell a little lower. Con
sidering the heavy receipts, though, all th
week the market was In very satisfactory
condition and prices a little higher than
they were at the close of last week.
The cow market was generally steady.
There were only a few Included In the re
ceipts, and aa all the packers wanted some
butcher stock the market- was fairly active
and fully steady with yesterday. Some of
the common stuff may have been neglected
to aome extent, but atlll the prices paid
ahowed no quotable change from yesterday.
An early clearance was made.
Bulls, veal calves and stags all sold In
just about the same notches they did yes
terday. About the usual Friday conditions gov
erned the atocker and feeder market today.
There were only a few cattle on sale and
not many were wanted. Prlcea for good
stuff were not much different, but common
kinds were dull and weak. Representative

HOQ8 Recelpta were fairly liberal this
morning, but not excessive. Reports from
other polnta were not particularly encour
aging, but still the market here liileil quite
active, wltli prlcea a slinde stronger. The
bulk of the hoga today sold nt 34 iTf4.R2W,
with the choicer loads going largely at $4 A.1
64.90. The common kinds sold from 84. Ml
down. All the packers seemed to want the
hogs at prevailing prices and as a result
trading was brisk from stnrt to finish.
There was practically no change In the
market and an early clearance waa made,
with the possible exception of some late
airlvsts.
Today's advance Just about makes tin for
yesterday's loss, but the market la still ufft
10c lower than nt the close of last week.
Just before noon several care of hoga ar
rived and as packers had their more urgent
orocrs nuea tne maiset ciosea siow ana
weak, practically all of the advance of the
morning being lost Representative sales:
