MOOS There was a fairly liberal run of
ogs on sale this morning and, In fact, the
receipts overrun the early estimates. The
market started out fully steady on the
best heavy hogs, but the -light stuff was
eglccted. After the best loads changed
snds. and when Chicago was reported
5itilic lower, the markt t here slowed up
nd closed dull and fully a nickel lowor.
alesmen who hsd light hogs found It a
Ifflcult matter to dispose of them at any

want them even at a low figure. The light

from $4.70 to $4.75. heavy mixed from $4.75

were mod
arata today, but the market did not seem
to have any life to It and the tendency of
prices waa downward. As salesmen- all,
wameo ju lv aa aroon nnt-ra as mey i r-
ceived yesterday, trading wag slow and the
day well advanced Defore a clearance was
made. " - . .
The market on corn-red steers was slow
and steady to a little lower. The bunches
that lust suited buyers sold at right around
yesterday's prices, but aside from those the
market was a trine lower, ine eariy mar
ket seemed to ha the best. BO that the' late
arrivals were harder to dispose of at stesdy
prices. The quality or tne onenngs was
about the same hi usual, the bulk being
made up of medium grades, with quite a
few common kinds, but none that could be
called prime.
The cow market was very unsatisfactory
te the selling Interests. For some reason
buyers started in irom tne Deginmng to
pound prices and tney succeeueu to ine
tune of lOffilSc. Salesmen all held on. try
lng to hold the market steady, but buyers
were very Indifferent and salesmen flnajly
had to take the prices offered. The close
was particularly mean. There were some
very choice cows and heifers offered that
sold as high as $4.00, but the bulk of the
cattle were only of fair quality.
Bulls were steady to a little lower and
rather dull, the same as cow stuff. Veal
calves showed no quo tame cnange.
Stockers and feeders were again very
scarce, and with a good demand the market
ruled active and fully steady on anything
at all decent. Even the common cattle
sold without much trouble at steady prices.
