Progress on the new fire engine house at
Eleventh and Jackson streets has been de
layed by scarcity of bricklayers and car
renters, It Is said. The building has been
erected only to the level of th first floor,
although it has been in the contractors'
hands several months. Workmen cannot
be had because the building trada troubles
last spring and summer flrtve many of
them from the city. Resumption of opera
tlons has failed to bring them all back.
