The demand for December wheat waa
quite sharp, but the offering were limited
and ea a reault the price of the delivery
allowed a food fain. Shorta were active
buyer throughout the entire amnion and
the demand trom thla aource waa respon
sible for much of the advance. Opening
r rices were steady on a private despatch
rom Liverpool stating that Japan was
buying wheat In India. December being
Ho lower to o higher at 7'3;95ic, but
with the market In the nortnwest snowing
a good advance early In the day, prices
followed suit and continued strong the re
malnder of the session, although there
were some alight recesslona on realizing.

of wheat and flour equaled 612.000 bushels.
Primary receipt were 1,011, 600 bushels,
against 1,210,000 bunheia a year ago. Hrad
street'a exDorta of wheat and flour for the

bushels a year ago. Minneapolis and Duluth
reported receipts of 683 cars, which with
local reeelota of 104 cars, none of contract
grade, made total receipt for the three
points or but cars, against iui cars last
week and 874 cars a year aeo.

steadier tone prevailed late In the day and
January pork closed 12Ho higher, at

M "2H, while ribs were unchanged at

lng were not excessive, but as Is apt to be
the case on a Friday, the demand was not
very brisk, and while there was little or
no change In ru'.lng prices the market was
slow and no more than steady.
Cornfed steers, sold In lust about the
same notches thla morning that they did
veaterdav. Packers aeemed to want a few
and aa tnere were oniy a tew ouncnes in
eight the market held steady. Comfeds of
desirable quality are fully steady for the
week and even the commoner kinds have
shown very little change, although trading
s been dun on mat ciasa, witn prices
rather uneven.
There was no treat life to the cow trade
thla morning, as buyers seemed to be
pretty well filled up and apparently did not
care whether they, got many or not. The
market for the week, though, haa been
very satisfactory, as the demand nas teen
little In excess or the supply snd prices
have advanced all along ths line, fully
1027160, with some sales showing even more
or an advance man mat.
. There la little chance to note In bulls,
veal calves and stag, as prices have held
lust about ateady all the week.
There were only a few stockers and feed
ers In sight, so that In rplte of the fact
that the end of the week Is at hand, prices
on anything decent held about steady.
Common stuff was extremely dull the same
as usual. For the week the best grades of
heavy cattle or choice ngntweignrs are
verv little If anv lower, but the plain and
common cattle are dull and fully 104J15O
lower, with some sales even worse.
The few western grass beef steers that
arrived this morning aold without material
change In the market, or at fully steady
prices, as compared with the close of last
week. Range cows wre a little slow, but

and In fact the bulk of the advance of the
last few daya waa loat. At the opening of
the market a few of the beet lightweights
aold ateady to a little lower, aa high aa
$5.60 being paid, or the aama as yesterday's
top. Aside from those few loada, however,
the market waa very alow and lu'JOo lower
than yesterday morning, or fully a dime
lower than yesterday a bad cloae. Packers
were bidding 16 .x6 30 for heavies, Jo. SO J
686 for mediums, hlle the lights sold
from that up to 35.60. Salesmen were
hardly prepared to take off aa much aa
30o on ths heavy hoga and aa a result
trading waa vary alow and tt was late be
fore a clearance was made.
The cloae of the market was very slow
and weak at the decline, the last sales
being fully 20c lower than yesterday morn
ing. At noon there were still some tralna
back, so ths market did not come to a
