INSPECT PORTABLE BOILERS
Sasgestlen of Ameadaneat for Ordi
nance Cornea from City Roller
Inspect or Scheldt.
At the requeet of a number of lntereste.1
partlea Joseph Scheldt, boiler Inspector, Is
considering the matter ot -asking th city
council to amend Ihe present ordinance
relating to the Inspection of boll era At
present, according to the Inspector, the
ordinance contains no provisions covering
boilers attached to portable engines, and
there are a number In the city which
should be Inspected almost aa closely s
those used In connection with stationary
engines.
This Is particularly true of th boilers
used on steam automobiles, of which there
are probably half a doxen In the city.
These boilers are designed to carry high
steam pressure, one at least carrying
normally about 250 pounds pressure to the
square inch of surface. The boilers are all
made of the strongest material known to
the trade and leave the factory In excel
lent shape, but this Is true of all boilers
In their various classes and a portable
boiler Is as much subject to bad treatment
or depreciation as one permanently lo
cated. The Inspector has not finally decided
upon the form of ordinance which will
cover the rasea mentioned, and. In fact.
has not fully decided to ask for the amend
ments, but Is looking for light upon the
subject.

approved by the Inspector of weights and
measures, and you must submit these Tea
sels to him for examination whenever ha
S3 requests. This is a light fine, but if
you ate brought here again I will make It
much heavier."
Nellson had been arrested on complaint of
Inspector Mahammltt, who aald he was us
ing quart measures with a large Hp, so that
unless the can la filled to tha very top It
la about an eighth of a quart short. Nell
son had refused to let the Inspector look'
over his utensils, but declared they were
full meaaura, because they could ba made

Judge Berka looked . over the measures
and concluded that tha blg-l!p" dodge wag
