It was a pitcher's battle and Chlnn had a little tha beat of It, Uia final score being 4 to 2. Bhugart mads his debut with the Rourks Ites and played a bangup gams, making no errors and accepting five chances . and saving Omaha from a shutout with his home run In the seventh. Bhafatal gava the first two men up passes to first and then Howie got to first on a. bunt hit and tha bases were mora than filled. Martman struck out and Kemmer fanned the sephyrs, but Thomas dropped the ball and threw It to Wright and Maber came dribbling In. Mean while Rone was eanterlng on to third, but Wright threw to Patterson and be went out like a a uninvited guest. In tha second McBrlde started out with a scratch hit and Crum got a pretty single and Garvin reached first on a bunt and tha bases were full to the lid again. Chlnn struck out ' and Maher got hit on the funny 'bone and dragged la a run. Rohe went out at first and Crum came In quietly. Meanwhile Omaha dubbed along without getting a run for six Innings. In tha third Shafstal reached first on a smacking single and with only one out, but no one oould get him further ao he weat out try lng to pilfer second. Both aides Oct Basy. In the seventh both sides got busy. la Bt. Joe's half' Crum got up first and smashed a hot one to Dolan, but couldn't run fast enough to make first Garvin drew a base and Chlnn singled. Then Wright caught Maher out and threw the ball to Patterson to catch Garvin, who was stealing, but Patterson 1st the ball Alter through and St. Joe had another tally. ', In their halt, with two men out, Dolan drew a scalper's ticket and Sbugart was there to make things hum and he did. He waited for a floater and set his bat against It so hard that It looked as if it never would stop, and It didn't until It struck the fence and began bounolng back. That was good for four bags and made tha two scores, but they were useless, at &ay a hit was made by either side In the rest of the game. . Nine horses faced the starter and were sent away to a poor start. Bad News set the pace to the stretch, where he was overtaken by Woodlake. The two fought It out to the wire, Woodlake winning by a length. Bad News was second, a half length In front of Tancred. The race was all that could be desired from a spectacular standpoint.
