THE ROCK ISLAND - May Purchase Site aud Erect a Sepa rate Paaseager Depot ia St. Loale. ST. LOUIS. May 21. R. R. Cable, chair man of the executive board of the Chicago, Rock Island A Pacific railroad, arrived in St. Louis-today, accompanied by General Manager Goodnow and other officials of th road. After a trip to the world's fair alto' W. B. McChesney, general manager of th Terminal association.' took the party on a special train to inspect the terminal facili ties on both sides of the river.' Mr. Cable would not discuss his mission In St. Louis other than to say (hat th Rock Island wnnted to get Its trains in bere and was doing everything to brine about this result. He hoped ta make satisfactory arrangements with the Ter minal association as speedily as possible. From other sources comes the statement that the Rock Island would build a new passenger depot to be entirely distinct from' Union station and that a deal was now being considered with the Burlington rail road for the purchase of an option which the latter .company holds on the property at Nineteenth and Washington avenues. That la the only logical conclusion to bs drawn, railroad men say, from the purchase by the P.ock Island of th extensive Wiggins ferry properties and the Colorado road.
