It may bo am mm practically all tho cheap Huuar that was shipped Into the Missouri rlvor iiiumoia nus uccn cleaned up, so that there la now a good, oven market, with ull refiners selling on thu sumo busls they woro boforo tho price-cutting was started. Tho murkot Is considerably ilrmer than it win? u wee uko, owing 10 mo ract that tho raw murkot has advanced a shade. It Is predicted with n good deal of conlklimcu that a corresponding udvanco In rcllnud nuKam win ibko piaco in tno near ruturo. In fUlinaceoUH codiIm tlirrn linn lu.nn light advanco In oatmeal and hominy owing to tho high prices ruling on oats and corn. It Is thought that still higher prices will piovnll In tho near future. Syrup has also strengthened up for tho same The cotton market Is In practically tho amo position It was n week ago. l'rlcca nro nuciuaung uacic una forth to soma ox xeni, nut there has been no permanent chuugo In either direction. Tho tun rnar kot Is also about tho sumo us It was a week ugo. Owing to tho light supply of both foreign anil domestic nuts prices aro llrmlng up and still higher quotations aro looked for In tne luturo. Thoro has been no Important change In tho canned goods situation. Hoth corn nnd tomatoes contlnuo strong and thoso who nro posted say that higher prices will pre vail at no very dlstnnt date. Oysters aro also hold at linn prices, owing to tho fact that Halttmoro packers are unablo to get enough stock to supply existing orders. Tho only chango In dried fruits la a slight uuvuuuu 111 uuinuua, umer lines oi cirieu fruits remain steady, with tho demand rainar quioi. Nalla Marked Doitu Ten Ceula, The most Important chango In the hard ware market last week was tho drop In nails, amounting to 10 cents per keg. It Is claimed that this drop docs not Indicate any genoral weakness In tho Iron or stool market, but Is brought about through com- retltlon between tho Independent munufac urers and tho trust. Tho capacity of tho different mills Is consldoruljly In excess of consumption, no thut the Independent Manufacturers havo been cutting prices for the purposo of moving their goods. Trices on barbwlre are tho samo as they wcro a woek ago. as tha supply and demand of that article Is more nearly cnuul. Othor lines of hardware handled by local Jobbers aro In about tho samo position they were a week ago, with the exception of lin seed oil, which eased off 2 cents. Haw Is Dow quoted at 62 cents and boiled at U conts. Turpentine Is steady at 43 cunts r.nd glass Is nlso soiling nt tno samo prices t was a week ugo. The demand for seasonable lines of hard ware last week was heavier than It has been for somo tlmo past, which Is taken as an Indication, by local Jobbers, that under normal conditions tneir traiio would bo very heavy. Even undor present condi tions thoy aro selling fully us much stock as they were a your ago, so they aro doing 119 cuinpiuining. Dry Goods Move More Freelr. There was more activity to tho dry goods market last week, but still the wonther has not been cold enough yet to ninko tho demand for winter weight goods very brisk. Jobbers report a good many mall orders coming forward, but as a general thing thoy are rather small, shnwlnc ihnf . tollers havo not sold as much of their iock as usual ui inis iimo or year, when ever tho temporaturo does tako a drop Wholesalers notlco a big Improvement In tholr sales, so thut thoy figure It would not tako merchants long to clean tin thulr atocka If settled cold weather should bo ex perienced. There Is practically no market news tn report, as all linos aro In a good, strong pusiiiuu. iunieru nuirmun aro miner timet, with neither buyers or sellers very nnxlous, and as a result but comparatively little business Is bolng transacted. Kvery ono, however, seems to havo 11 good deal of con fidence in futuro values, aa it Is thought the demand will contlnuo exceptionally (ieuvy wiiuuKiiuui 1110 cunung scuson. Good Demand for Footwear. The weather was very favorablo last week for a brisk trado In both leather and rubber goods. The snow mado heavy weight shoes sell nt a rnnlrt ratn In th country and all kinds of rubber footwear uBu Bum more ireoiy man at any tlmo this eason. As a result Jobboin received rush orders from all directions nnd sold moro ftoclc than for a good many weeks past, letallera havo been doing considerable fomplalnlng about the weather all this full. iut according to all reports received from he country thoy sold enough Btock last waek to go a long way toward making up for lost time. ' " Rubber bills fell duo on December 1 and the credit men of the different wholesale nouses say that collections aro coming In more freely than they expected In view of the light demand In the country for rubber foods. It Is quite likely that thero will bo a till greater Improvement thlB week owing to the big sales of lust week. Thero aro Jways a good many requests for exten sions of tlmo and this year Is no exception to tho general rule, but so fur bills are being paid up fully as promptly as they Were a year ago. Very fow business fail ures havo taken placo this season, so that Jobbers lpses from that source havo been rery light nnd no trouble Is expected for retailers will bo In excellent condition as oon as cold weather arrives. Fruits nnd I'rudace. .T!l?in'in,!frl.iI,0.st no Important changes t "II lost week In the prices quoted on Jresh fruits and vegetables, litis noes was pot exactly rushing, but still thero was a very fair .demand both from the country and tho city. Jobbers uro shipping out Im mense quantities of nuts, and that class of Jftoda for the Christmas trado and hny dok for a big rush from now until tho LOlldays. Christmas decorations have arrived and tno prlcea at which tho trees, holly and vergreen wreathing and tho vnrlous other llnea are selling will bo found In tho quo tatlona given In nnother column. A big do. rnand for that class of goods Is looked for this season, so that stocks In this city aro unusually large. The egg market Is holding Just about tendy. Very llttlo strictly fresh stock Is arriving on tho market, bo that the de rnand Is sufficient to tako nil that Is of- 0 ferod at good, firm prices. The demand for poultry was fairly liberal Jaet week, while tho supply was light, nnd SUi03 'i""61."! considerably. Uutter Is 1 also a shade higher. Cotton Mnrlcet. Fori the week receipts havo been fairly liberal, a slight lncrcnso being noted over tho corresponding week of last year. As compurcd with last week, howovor, thero Is a slight decrease The demand from nil sources has been active, so that pricos havo advanced on desirable klndB. The supply of corn-fed steers was very light all tho weck nnd the general market may bo quoted 15026c hlghur than It was a week ago. It Is noticeable, however, that tho greatest ndvanco has been nn the short fed cattle, owing to the fact that the run of westerns Is now over with. Tho fin ished c.ittlo have not changed much, prices being about tho samo an thoy wero a week ago. Good to choico heavyweight cattlo may bo quoted from J6.15 to J7.00. Fair to good steers aro worth from J5.60 to J6.15 and short-fed cattlo aro Bulling from J5.60 down. Tho cow market has also beon very ac tlvo and prices havo advanced all tho way from 15o to 30c. The market, however, has been moro or less unaven, owing to the rapidity with which prices have advanced. Tho greatest improvement has bcen on tho heavyweight fed cows of good quality, which may be quoted from J4.25 to J4.75. Tho medium and light cattlo havo not ad vanced an much, but at tho samo tlmo prices aro better than they wero a week ago. There hns been an nctlvo demand for ennners and prices nro considerably higher than they wero n week ago. At somo other points, however, tho market cased off to ward the closo of the week, so that prices for thu coming week depend very largely upon receipts. Hulls, veal calves and stngs have also sold freely and prices aro stronger than thoy wero a week ago. Thoro havo been very fow stockcrs nnd feeders nt the yurds this week and as the demand for the choicer grades was liberal prices aro fully as high as they were a week ago. The doniand continues best for the heavyweight cnttlo showing quality and also for prime yearlings. Tho common grades of all weights havo moved very slowly, the demand from tho country for that clnas of cattlo being extremely light. Good to choice feodcrs aro quotable from J3.75 to Jl.25; fair to good, J3.00 to J3.75 and common from J3.00 down. Very fow western cattlo are now coming on tho market and most of those that do arrive are of common quality. Packers aro now nearly as anxious for tho beef steors as they were two weeks ago, though tho better grades asll at very satisfactory prices. Cow stuff and feeders havo fluctu ated Just about the samo as Is noted above for natives. HOGS Thero was a liberal run of hoga hero today and as other markets wero Suotcd lower prices at this point took a rop. Good, heavy hoga sold fully a nickel lower, whllo tho lightweights wero hard to dispose of nnd wero 10&15c lower than yesterday and sometimes tho decllno wns oven greater. Tho best heavy hogs, weighing 300 pounds and over, sold largely from $6.15 to J6.20. Good, heavy mixed hogs sold largely from J6.07V4 to J6.15. Tho bulk of the lightweights wept from $5.60 to $4 00. Whllo tho market was fairly active on tho heavyweights, tho light hogs sold very slowly and wero loft until the last. Receipts of hoga this week have been fairly liberal, a good gnln being noted over tho preceding week nnd a still greater over tho corresponding week of last yoar. In splto of the liberal rur. the tendency of prices has been upward and nt tho close of the week values aro about a shade higher than they were last week. Tho high day of the weck was Friday , when values reached about J6.30, which Is the highest point Binco Octobor. Representative sales: No. a at, 1)- No. Av. Bh.
