Dun t Co.'s NYeekly Review of Trade tomorrow will say; Never before In tho history of thn United States was thero such great reason for u day of national thanksgiving. Tills coun try has made unprecedented strides toward a position of International supremacy, tiot only In commerce, but also In Iltianco. To a marked degree business enterprises htivo proved successful, An Idle wheel in mills or fnctotles Is the exception, while labor Is so well employed nt hlgti wages that con sumptlvn demands sustain market values of nil ntapln commodities. Transporting facilities have been uuabtu to keep pace with the tuition's requirements, many com plaining of tardy deliveries, which nlone net ns a brake on commerclnl progress. By closing lake navigation lower tempera turn will relievo the railway situation, thotiinnds of cars being restored to Inland trnlllc. This samo factor of seasonable weather stimulates retnll dealings nnd prompt collections swell bank clearings. Careful search discloses few unfavorable factors In tho Iron nnd steel sltuntlon. Probably tho least satisfactory conditions are found at plato mills, which report an uneven distribution of orders, Will i:ipnnd the lliiylns. A few largo concerns appear to secure tho bulk of now business, but heavy orders for cars will largely expand the buying, while the now combination will put th.s class of mills on a stronger basis. In rails thero Is no apparent limit to tho orders placed, though some mills am unabln to guaranten delivery within a year One Pittsburg report places thn year's output of structural material nt fino.Od) tons. After six mouths of morn or less Interruption all midline snops nnn Kinureu plants at Sinn Francisco hnve fully resumed, nnd It Is certnln that the greatest force on record Is now engaged In tho various departments of Iron and steel making. Raw material at win souin nns nuvanccu, nut nt central Points nlir Iron Is stendv. tbouirb ranlilln absorbed. Eastern footwear manufacturers urn nnw generally Insisting on small advances when new contracts are placed. Lur?e Jobbers resist tho upward tendency, nnd the continued strength of leather will ne cessitate depreciation of quality If higher prices arc not paid. Aclll'ft Mslliiintr Induces Cnnllnn. Cotton relapsed Into dullness, with harelv steady quntntlons, in marked contrast tb tho exceptional nctlvlty nnd strength of tile Mllln week In ISOII. when nrlcea km J11.2.'i a bnlo higher. Foreign markets nro iieiu uown iy jur. Weill's large estlmntc of tho domestic crop, which Is not likely to nrovo ns near tho fact ns his excessively low prediction Inst venr. Losses lmvn 1111. doubtedly been severe Iu many states, whlln prosperity in mi oincr regions must bring a. vigorous demand for goods, which Is al- icauy pcrcentinio in the activity of spin ners. British exports of cotton goods are mucll tamer than thev wern xi venr mth and domestic shipments to China have also increased or laic. strength Is thn ruin In tho market for farm products. Favorablo woather during tho closing days of corn harvesting failed to brlnir niiv reaction from tba hlvhnui price level In many years, nnd tho mnrket was equally oblivious to Atlantic exports for thn week of only 450.121 bushels, as agnlnst 3,S3S,666 a year ngo. Tho most noticeable feature of the trade was the strong demand for good rattle, while tho common kinds were neglected nnd hnrd to dispose of nt any price. Corn-fed steers renched the high point of tho senson hern today, but they were better than anything that has been nt the ynrds in 11 long time. A string of 19 hend averaging 1,430 pounds sold nt $6.60 nnd n fancy hunch of Christmas beef sold for $7.25. Anything that wns good enough to bring $6.00 or better sold freely this morning nt good firm prices. The com mon kinds nnd wnrmed-up cnttle were neg lected nnd sellers found It n dtfllcult mnt ter to dispose of them nt whnt looked to be steady prices, There wern unite a few cows on sale this morning and with the exception of some of the choicest bunches, which sold nbout steady, the general market was nono too active and a little lower thou yester day. There have been heavy receipts all tho week, so that buyers worn not par ticularly anxious for supplies today. Good bulls held nbout stendy, but com mon kinds wero weak In sympathy with the decline on cow stuff. Veal calves and stags fold nt about stoady prices. The stocker and feeder mnrket was rather nulet this morning, as Is generally the ense the last of tho week. AnjViIng choice was not far from steady, but ..side from that tho market wns a little lower nnd rather Mow. Western beet steers brought fully steady prices today, but there were very few on sale. Range cows were steady to n little lower nnd the same was truo of Blockers and feeders. Representative sales: BEE1- STEERS No. Av. Pr. No. Av.
