HOOS There was another generous sup
ply ot hogs here today, but the market
opened In good season active and just
about a nickel higher on tho good hugs.
Packers seemed to have llbetul orders and
it was not long before the bulk ol the ot
tering was out of llrst hands. Good mixed
hogs sold very largely at $5,721 and i.v;;.
The choicer loads and heavier weights
brought J.mIIj and from that on up to 6.00,
which is M10 highest price paid on this mar
ket In Mime time. The lighter weights were
neglected the same ns has been tho case
for some time, and sellers In some cases
thought they had to take about yesterdays
prices for thnt class of stuff Later reports
from Chicago quoted that mnrkct a nickel
lower than the opening, which of course
made the feeling weaker here, and for 11
time not much was done.
The last end of tho market was rather
slow and the advance was largely lost. It
wan ine iiKiiiweiKin sum. iiiiucvcr. Hint
I was left to 11 great extent, which made
' packers rather indifferent buyers. About
' everything was sold, though, at a reason-

CATTLE There was not a heavy run of
cattle hero toduy, and its packers nil
seemed to wnnt a few, tho market did not
show much change from yesterday, even
though Chicago was reported weak to a
illmo lower.
There wero about 60 cars of beef steers
In tho yards this morning and buyers
started In fairly early and cattle began
moving toward tho scales at prices that
looked steady to a shado lower than yes
terday. Tho market was a trifle uneven,
ns prices have scarcely settled down to a
steady basis from yesterday's sharp do
cline. Thu market, though, was talrly
active and most everything at all good
was sold at a reasor&bly early hour.
There wero not very many cows and
heifers on salo today nnd the murkot was
active and Just about steady all around,
lluyers seemed to wnnt tho stuff and ns a
result It was not long before the pens were
cleared.
Dulls, calves nnd stags also sold In Just
about yesterday's notches. Tho better
grades were In nctivo demand, but the
commoner kinds were a little draggy, the
same us usual.
Thero was not what might bo cnllod
an active Blocker and feeder market today.
The demand from tho country yesterday
showed quite a falling off and speculators
carried over quite a tew cattlo. For thnt
reason they were not liberal buyers today
and would not take anything unless they
could get It for les3 money than they paid
yesterday. The supply, however, on sale
was not large, so that most everything
was finally disposed of. Representative
sales:
