HOC1S There was a fair run of hogs here
today, and as other markets were all
quoted lower prices nt this point also took
n dtop, Trading started out on a basis
of a big 5c decline, so that It was prac
tically n t.VCS.market. It took choice hops
to sell over that figure, and unless the
lini u'ere'llehl or of eominoil oun ttv thev
would bring ns much ns $5.6.". A choice
load sold at $5 7714, or Pc lower than yes
terday's best price. After about ninety
loads had chanced hands the market was
not very active and the feeling wns weaker
and for that reason not much was done
for a time
Packers, however, wanted the hogs, nnd
a d seiurs held on for steady prices, the
mniket finally took on new life and closed
up active nnd fully as good as the open
ing. Today's loss more than offsets yes
terday's gain and cnrrles the average price
nenrly back to where It wns on Satunlsy.

CATTLE There was only a fair run of
cnttle here today and although Chicago
was reported steady to 10c lower, this mnr.
ktt ruled active and Just about steady all
around on good stuff.
Receipts Included nbout tlxty-uve cars of
steers, and ns pucgers were nil liberal buy
ers It did not take long for the bulk of tne
offerings to change hands. The better
grades sold readily nt good, steady pi lees
mid In sume cases sales wero made that
looked a little stronger. Common cattle
on the contrary were a little neglected nnd
occasionally Kvlleru found It dithcult to get
quite as much as the same kind of cattle
sold for yesterday. As a general thing,
however, It was a good, steady, active
market and nbout everything was sold In
good season
There were very few cows and heifers
offered this morning, as ten cars would
probably cover the receipts, Huyers
wanted what there wns on sale and Btarted
out and paid fully steady prices all around.
It did not take long then lo clear the pens.
Hulls,, eulves nnd stags all met with ready
sale nt yesterday's quotations.
The demnnd for stockers nnd feeders was
not particularly heavy this morning, nnd
although receipts wero not large, the mar
ket wan slow and the tendency of prices
was downwaid. The demnnd from tho
country continues light nnd until the trade
picks up no improvement In market condi
tions l- looked for. One reauon for the
llnht demnnd Is. of course, the fact that
farmers are all busy with their spring
work. Representative sales:
