CATTLE There was n fnlrlv cood run
of cattlo lierc today, and Chicago was also
well supplied, and reports from Hint mar
ket showed a drop In prices amounting to
about a dime. The demand at this point,
however, was iu good shano and trading
was active and not far from steady.
Iho hulk of the receipts were again made
up of beef steera of pretty fair duality.
Tho demand wim active and practically
everything was out of llrst hunds early
In thn morning. The market could be
quoted about steady, but at the samo time
pacKcrs tried to buy ineir stuff lower in
view ot the decline in Clilcago mid In a
good many cases they succeeded. As high
as $3.30 was paid for cattle today, but they
were in prime comuiion.
1 ncro was not a heavy run of cows and
heifers, and twenty-tlvo cars would proba
bly cover the receipts. The dcmitl was
actlvo and everything changed hands early
Iu the morning nt steady to strong prices.
The market for the week Is easily a dime
niguer, nut tne greatest advance seems to
be on tho kind that sold last week around
$.1.85 or $3.90. That class of cattle nre now
bringing rlgiu around ji.ou und $t.on. Tliero
was a bunch of heifers on sale today good
enough to bring $4.10.
Ilu Is. calves and stags sold Iu nbout the
same notches they did yesterday.
There was no particular cliiiuge noticea
ble today In the feeder situation, and tho
market could bo quoted Just about steady.
Choice sttifT met with ready sale nnd tho
common kinds were slow, ns usual, but
still practically everything sold in good
season at satisfactory prices. Representa
tive sales:
