The two New -York City capitalists, Messrs,
Roeslcr and Johnson, who have been Inter
ested In the Big Bend Placer company on
Rapid rher, have Just mndo a visit to the
Paclola district, where they Intend to be
come owners In somo quartz ground, Tho
Big Iletid company cleared up $35,000 from
Its placer mine on Hnpld river for ft three
mouths' run, Tho company owns about 6,000
feet of old placer beds along tho river which
Is turning out to be a bonanza. Tho gravel
averages f0 cents per cubic yard and In
some places the values run as high as $10
per yard. The company has not closed down
for the winter. As early In the spring as
possible the plant will be enlarged to han

cousin of Admiral Dewey, who visited Iho
Hills last summer and purehaed tho Kb
meralda nnd Story Brothers gold mines,
which aro free-milling propositions with n

Ksmernlda mlno has 300.0CO tons of oro
blocked out that will nverago $8 per ton
gold. In this same district there aro several

Federation of Labor adjourned sino die to
night after selecting tho city of ficranton,
Pa., for next year's convention. Tho fol
lowing officers were elected for tho ensuing

Bontou was chosen fraternal delegate to
Canada.
During the day the convention' transacted
