day night, visiting threo saloons and stop-
ping ouo bolated pedestrian on tho street.

guilty. The desperadoes nro described as
a tough looking pair, but as their faces wero
ccorcd with handkerchiefs whorovcr they

them. Ono is said to bo six foot tall and
the other flvo feet eight Inches, Both
wore, black slouch hats, Tho taller of the
two voro n long, dark colored overcoat and
tho shorter a light overcoat. This descrip
tion tallies fairly well with that of tho two
men who committed tho series of burglaries

tho till In Hart's saloon on Ames avenue
for a snug sum.
The enterprising pnlr opened operations
nt 8:30 Wednesday evening at Winkler's
saloon, Fifth and Locust streets, In East
Omaha. It was a very bad beginning, and
they secured nothing, becausa tho bar
tender didn't act as thoy supposed ho
would. That functionary was alone lu the
pluco at tho time. Tho tobbcrs, who bad
evidently bcon watching from tha outside
for a clear const, rushed In upon him, their
faces covered with pocket handkerchiefs
and pistols in tholr hands. They Intended
probably to '"stick him up," when ono
would stand guard over him while tho
other rifled the tilt, but tho bartondor, not
waiting for orders', turned nnd ran pre
cipitately out of tho back door.
Tho robbers then turuod and ran out ot
the front door. They doubtlctB didn't care
to tako any chances In tho saloon with a
bartender nutaldo looking for help.

Exnctly one hour later tho pair turned
up nt Fritz Slacker's saloon, 3612 North
Thirtieth street, which was well filled with
customers, Tho bartender and flvo patrons
wcro lined up along the wall, where In
turn their pockets wero picked. John
Hude, 3502 North Thirtieth streot; O. T.
Johnson, 3325 Emmet atroot; Frank Dudloy,
3102 North Thirtieth street; C. J. Lowls,
3624 North Thirtieth stroet, and Tom Mar
kell, 3612 North Thirtieth stroet, contrib
uted to their rovenuo. It Is estimated that
tho bandits netted J25 from this job.
At 10:40 p. m. William Huntzlngor's sa
loon, 1S1G Military avenue, was visited by
the doughty pair. Huntilngor was behind
tho bar and was alone when tho two men
with masks and revolvors entered, ana ho
made no resistance. Ordering him to hold
up his hands tho tall outlaw kept him cov
ered with his pistol whllo his smaller pal
gathered $30 from tho cash register. They
inon took a arink of whisky each und de
parted.
A railroad man named H. O. Husbroolc
was held up by two masked robbers near
Tenth and MaBon streets at 11:30, but, upon
mo approacn or n patrolman, they ran away
before securing tholr booty. Tholr descrip
tion corresponds with that of tho saloon
robbers.
