The five uniformed companies of cadcta
at the High school have undergono conscien
tious training for the last month In prepara
tion for the annual drill tournament to be
held thl evening at the Ames avenue
park. There aro In all seven companies,
but tho two who wear only citizens' clothes
are debarred from the conteat. The oap
talns in charge are: Slater, Company A:
Wolters, Company B; Canfield, Company Q;
Robertson, Company D; Hardy, Company
F. Tho evolutions will be under tho direc
tion of William B. Ten Eyck, commanding.
Tho prize for companies will be a silk II J g
to be awarded by Judge Fawcott In accord
ance with tho decision made by the follow
ing Judges: Captain Stockham, Thumton
Rlllcs; Captain Hodglns, Omaha Guards, ind
ex-C.-ptaln Foye, formerly of the Thuriton
Rifles. Tho program of commands has been
prupared by the Judges and will not be an
nounced until each company has entcrod
the lists.
The individual medal, offered several
years ago by the Thurston Rifles, will be
competed for by flvo picked rami from each
company. The commands will be given by
Lieutenant Ten Eyck, the Judges mentioned
abovo ruling out each man as he makea an
error. Tho medal has been carried during
the last yoar by Gilbert Moore. Superin
tendent Pearse will present the token.

erhood of Locomotive Firemen, were ten
dered a social reception Wednesday night
at Labor temple by Woodbine society, an
auxiliary department, composed of the
wives of the men composing the brother
hood. There was a largo attendance, A
program of amusement was well rendered,
refreshments wero served and n. valuable
diamond ring was rallied. It was won by
a Mr Hayex of North Platte, who was not
present Mr. Hayes took his chance on
the diamond several days ago, and his
brethren say he probably forgot the Inci
dent He will bo notified of his luck at the
,' earliest moment possible.
