Good cattle of all kinds were scarce , ho general market was slow and dull vlth the tendency taslor. Grass beef steers were not In very large upply , but there was quite a sprinkling of prn-feds , gome of them pretty decent ca.t- le. The market wad Blow and there was a eellng among 'buyers that values ouplit to > e lower on account of the very unfavorable tports from Chicago , The early lelegrams ro.m that point were quoting the market generally Itxjj'lSc lower than yesterday's early market and dull. It would toe only mtural to expect buyers at this point to ake the boar side under such clrcum- tances , but there were so few on sale that hey did not. succeed In taking oft much. Perhaps the situation could be best de scribed as slow to a lit/tie / easier. Cows and heifers 'Were In very light sup ply and thai fad helped to hold up the marke-t. On thu oilier hand the most of t'he ' offerings consisted of common and trashy tuft which was slow sale , but about steady. The best feeders seemed to be just about teady because of the few on sale. On the other hand common stockers and feeders vero very slow and It was a good deal i matter of luck whether they could be sold. If one JUst happened to get hold of % buyer who was willing to take common Hluff the cattle would bring in some cases prally fair prices , but In other cases they would have to sell lower.
