It appears on examination of the law that the vote cuts no flguro either way. The people are asUcd to ballot on this question , hut If , as In the present cas > e. they decide against the levy , the school board Is authorized to proceed with laying on the tax , Milllcicnt to meet the Interest when duo. and If the board falls to do so then the county board hns to make the levy on application of those hold ing the bonds and to whom the Interest Is due. due.No No matter how the voters may have un derstood the proposition In regard to Insur ing the school buildings , the members of the old board , who presented the question to bo voted on , understand that the verdict of the people Is against their taking out any more insurance policies. After the present pol icies expire the public will have to stand the loss If one of the buildings should burn The school board meets npxt Monday night to flnlsh up pending business and to pass upon the estimates for the levy necessary to meet the Interest on the bonds. This will bo the last meeting of the old board. The election returns will bo canvassed the name evening , nnd then the new members will pull their chairs up to the desks of the retiring members. a A. After examining thlrlocn witnesses and the production of a number ot pairs of new shoes , Justice Fields yesterday dismissed Ihe charge of larceny preferred by John Hanscn , a merchant on Sixteenth avenue , against William Keins and Charles Harris. Hanson's store was burglarized some time ago and a lot of shoes slolen. The trouble seemed to bo that Hanson couldn't Identify the shoes. He- fore Ihe men left the room they were ar rested upon it charge of nssaulllng and atlempling to rob Mrs. Fields while taking care of her husband's coal olfice. Kerns and Harris , were with Limerick at Iho time and have been fully Identified by Mrs. Fields.
