Messrs , Dougherty and Cook arrived from the west yesterday , Messrs. Mink and Doano arriving from Chicago this morning. Whllo the conference of the receivers will undoubtedly bo largely dovotcd to a consid eration of the interest payments , the gentle men will probably take up the question of equipment and the duties devolving upon the receivers to improve the property in their keeping. it is pretty thoroughly understood that the receivers are in fnvoiof generous ex penditures toward the ibottermcnt of the service to the end that the property must not bo allowed to deteriorate while in their charge. "As to the Interest payments , " said a representative of the Union Pacific , "they have been practically agreed upon through the conferences held in Now York , but there are many matters of detail which require the attention of the receivers and Messrs. Mink and Doano being in Chicago it was deemed best to have the conference of receivers hero Instead of compelling Mr. Clark to go to Chicago. Dougherty and Cook but the nature of the communications have not gone beyond the president's room , so closely hus ho guarded the findings of the gentlemen who have examined the Oregon Hallway & Navigation company's prop erty for the benefit of the foreign bond holders. _ COICltHCTKU FALSE IMIMl&iSIONS. ,1. .11. Beyond stating that the conference was devoted entirely to the discussion of routine matters concerning the roads , Mr. Munroo refused to sriy an thing , remarking however that there was nothing significant in the visit. The fact remains , however , that the Northern Pacific and Union Pacific have been getting closer together recently than they have been In years. Although rivals in a sense , they can control a great deal of the northwest business , and as the rates at present are ruinously low , In the eyes of trafllki officials , there is undoubtedly an effort OQ the part of the Pacific roads to gut together.
