The continued cheapness of London money rates will hardly servo to cause It , for this phenomenon Is hardly inderstood by any one who .scans the olllclal Iguros of London subset Iptlons this year to i w loans and companies. CKDAU RAPIDS , In. , July 21 Tlio lawyers of this city , who lnivo boon ii the 'bottling" business for the past few years , have adopted a now plan of rob bing the saloon keepers , who are now between tlio devil and the deep sea When these lawyers lifht began thcii work of bleeding the saloons they wouli" servo an attorney's original notice to the effect that or or before certain date there would bo on file in the dibtrict court u potitioi praying for nn injunction rentrain ing the defendant from soiling or keep ing intoxicating liquors. The saloon keeper know that an injunction wouh bo fatal to his business , and very nat urally felt that Iho best thing to do waste to effect a bottloment. This ho wouh do with the lawyer for a money consideration oration of from $10 to $50 , ami botnetime $100 , the lawyer bleeding his victim ti whatever extent ho thought ho coult stuiid , though usually it was $20. ThI would be repented whenever the lawyer ran short of fundri. In all instances tin cases were nettled and no papers won iilcii. iilcii. This worked all right for n whllo , bu the plan was finally exposed and the fol lows lay low , but only for a short time They next appeared in a now role They formed a wort of syndicate , and in Btead of laying a special levy , bap lia/ard , on the biiloon keepers , .they de uided to purstio an altogether ililloron tuck. Ono of the lawyers went aromu to the dilTorcnt Miloon keepers and pro posed that for $ lf > a month each , he would guarantee them against prosecu tion in the justice courts. Some foil in with the plan , butothers refused to have anything moro to do with thorn. Then the test. Warrants were sworn out and homo of the baleen keepers were raided as often as twice in a"dtTy. Information mation was lllud before the grand jury , indictments returned , n number of them bolng found guilty and lined. The law yers were making their power folt. The saloon keepers wuro at tholr mercy , and sixty saloon keepers have consented to employ these ' 'sottlots" as their attor neys. J-ust what will bo the outcome is hard to say. Within three weeks the prosecutors of the saloons have become their defenders. Piles of people svo piles , nut IJo Witt's Witch Hazel B-ilvo will euro thuji. Kentucky lUtlller I-'ull.
