It was m accordance with professional courtesy and brotherly love , therefore , when , as the remains passed through the Inriro cities on their way to this place , thnt largo delegations of former follow railroad men wcro ready on the platforms to pay the de ceased , In various ways , the rospeut they owed him , both us n friend and associate. It was fitting also that on tlio arrival of the remains In this city , thnv should bo mot by men distinguished in his profession though In no way connected with the road on which the deceased had iichiovcd his greatest suc cess. At 1 :30 : o'clock p. m. the friends from abroad , as also the local railroad men , mot at the Merchants nnd were driven to the Into residence of the deceased , whore the remains lay , At the head and foot of ' .ho casket were placed the lloral cars of the freight d-epjrt- monts at Kansas City and Omaha , whllo upon the lid lay a number of lloral clusters already described In THE Bun. Near the glass plato stood the two brolton wheels , the offerings respectively of the Millard - lard hotel at Omaha nnd Mr. C. S. Mellon , whllo adjacent rested the bountiful floral anchor from the general freight department nt Denver. On a speclnl stand beside the casket stood the exqulsito broken column , the tribute of Messrs. Frank P. Hnnlon and Frank Muir of Omaha. In n corner lay the liirgo lloral pillow , sent by the Kunscs City club ; in another a lloral wheel "from friends in the general ofllco of the Chicago , St. Paul , Minneapolis & Omaha" in St. Paul , together with a collection nf lloral designs from old-time friends In this city , the number and vutlotyof which preclude - cludo the possiollity of enumerating- thorn horo. The quartette tnon sang "Lead , Kindly Light , " when Uov. Mr. Buttcrlck made a short nnd eloquent address. The quartette then sang "Paradise , " niter which the visiting and local friends took a last view of the placid features of the de ceased. The casket was then enclosed and berne to the hcarso. The latter was driven after the fifteen carriages containing the gentlemen from abroad and after it came thirty moro carriages containing the rniltoad and other friends of cf the deceased from St. Paul and other cities. The pall bearers were W. H. S. Wright , R. W. Clarlr , H. M. Poarco. A. W. Tren- helm , George Hunbiker and II. C. Hope.
