Stocks Feverish , very irregular and active
for a few loading stocks all day. Prices were
influenced largely by tlio manipulators , who
kept up tlio circulation of various rumors
lulled to their purpose. Pacific mail led tlio
lilt , advancing steadily to the close , which
was at a total gain of 4g per cent' . A few
other stocks showed great strength and ad
vanced from 1J to 2 per cent. The general
ttreogth of the market continued clear up to
the close.
