Before 10:30 : a bettor fooling pre\ ailed , nnd
prices wore on the advance. The market
continued strong until near 2 < when it was
announced from Washington that abill was
introduced in the house reducing freight rates
on the Union Pacific and Contial Pacific 30
Iior cent , below the lowest rates iu December
last. Union Pacific Was \ igorously attacked ,
and declined from 70J to 73J. The general
list declined In sympathy. Just previous to
l the close the market turned upward once
more , closing at a buoyant nnd sharp advance.

and other articles favor buyers. Cargoes of
ivhoat oil the coast are in small supply , and
