The tock market this morning opened
Strom } , but subsequently there was n de
cline of i@li per cent in the general li t ,
while Memphis it Charleston and Metro
politan fe 1 off 2J per cent ; after midday ,
there was a steadier feeling and a reco\ery
of i@i per cent , while Chicago , Burlington -
ton & Quincy rose 3 per cent. Later on ,
howe\er the market became weak and ir
regular , and closed 4@3 per cent below
the latest quotations of yesterday , except *
ing for llui lington Quincy , and Alton
& Tcrre Haute , which weio 2@3 per cent
higher respectively.
