In the realms of college journalism at least at the U. of N. we know of no more fitting way to celebrate April Fool's Day than to play a trick on ourselves and get the paper out promptly on the 1st day of the month. So here we arc. April Fool ! In another column we publish a partial list of new b oks received at the library since January 1. Hereafter we shall print such a list in each issue. It was sug'gestcd by the Librarian that often times valuable reference books or volumes in general litera ture come in without the students knowing anything about them. Many volumes are being added to the library daily, and we adopt this method of announcing the most important, that everybody may have the full use and benefit of additional volumes as soon as they are available. We were looking over a college song book the other day. Page after page of Harvard songs, Yale songs, Princeton and Williams songs were there, bnt none from the western colleges and none from the U. of N. We might just as well have a University song as not. With musicians like Lehmer and Pol lard and such poets as Tallmadgeand Fisher, to say nothing of the girls, we ought to turn out some genuine art gems. We haven't many of the "blest ties that bind" here among the students, and a song is a splendid thing to start with. College spirit needs cultivating. Let's have a song. We shall be glad to submit in these columns for approval or rejection by the students any thing anyone will volunteer to compose for a U. of N. song. The State Oratorical Association in con vention March 10 at Cotner University, unanimously elected Mr. Adam McMullen president for the ensuing year. No more appropriate choice could have been made. Mr. McMullen has more than earned the honor conferred by the State Association. His work as Secretary and Treasurer of the Local Association up to the time of the local contest and from that time to March 10, in What's the matter with a University But ton ? The question was agitated last year, but nothing came of it. A neat, plain button for college students is an admirable device, especially in a town like Lincoln, where stu dents from seven different colleges adorn the streets at all hours of the day. It would serve to distinguish us from other students a distinction contributing much to the peace of mind of neighboring colleges, al though, doubtless, greatly to our own embar rassment and disadvantage. However, we are nothing if not magnanimous. Lets brand ourselves with an educational trade mark. Il will save some of the needless questions fired at us daily : "Do you go to the Advent college?" "Are you a cadet at
