Exhibit allows public to act as journalists NEWSEUM from page 1 traveling exhibit’s goal is important, said Will Norton Jr., dean of the College of Journalism and Mass Communications. “This reminds us of what a great thing we have because of the First Amendment and the exchange of news,” Norton said. “It’s useful for any public- or civic-minded citizen.” Along with interactive exhibits, the 2,000-square-foot museum con tains artifacts such as a piece of the Berlin Wall, a keyboard signed by Microsoft Founder Bill Gates, a 19th-century typewriter and a press pass worn by Washington Post Editor Ben Bradlee. Bradlee is the famed editor who worked with Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein in uncovering the Watergate scandal. The exhibit, which has been, touring the United States since March 1999, will set up in front of Memorial Stadium today and opens to the public Thursday. It will be open until Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Friday it will be open until 6 l p.Ul. The exhibit’s one-time stop in Nebraska coordinates with J-Days, the College of Journalism’s annual celebration. The week’s celebration will cul minate with a public forum that will address the topic “Media at the Millennium.” Former Gov. Ben Nelson, former Nebraska football player Johnny Rogers, Neuharth, Norton and Jodi Rave, a reporter from the Lincoln Journal Star, will make up the panel at the forum. Crowley said the forum’s goal is to bring together members of the media and those who are frequently covered by it to discuss media fair ness. After visitors take in the museum and the forum, Norton said, he hopes they will want to see more. “It will give just a little taste of what is in the Newseum in Arlington,” he said. The forum will begin at 11:30 a.m. Friday in the Nebraska Union Centennial Room. Admission to the NewsCapade is free. " 1 ’ . I Parking Problems? Need a Place to Park?
