The fourth annual Campus
Recreation Sports Festival
starts today at 3 p.m. It runs
through Sunday afternoon.
Office of Campus Recreation
Director Stan Campbell said
the purpose of the games is to
promote not only athletic com
petition but also outdoor
recreation that supports a
healthy lifestyle.
The festival originally was
sponsored by Coors. When they
dropped the program, the cam
pus recreation office decided
to keep it going.
"It is basically a way to get
our name around to publicize
the things we do," Campbell
said. "It also gives students a
chance to get outside and enjoy

At 5:30 p.m. the campus
recreation office will have an
outdoor program orientation
to inform students about the
many UNL outdoor activities.
Friday finishes with a "fun
run" at 8 p.m. and an outdoor
showing of "An Officer and a
Gentleman" and "Heaven Can
Wait" at 9 p.m. at Cather-Pound
Residence Halls.

Advance entry fees were need
ed for the mud volleyball and
the softball tournaments with
the fees refunded if the teams
do not forfeit. All other activi
ties are free to UNL students
and faculty.
