Decorating opportunities abound
to spice up residence hail rooms
By Chris Dcolcy
Dally NebrasUn SuTTWriter
Decorating a residence hall room
or an apartment does'nt have to
be a difficult or expensive task.
With a bit of imagination and a
little cash, students can either
build, rent or buy the decorative
and functional items it takes to
give their living spaces new
warmth and vitality.
Students, who live in 16 feet by
14 feet rooms, need decorative
space savers. Residence hall stu
dents often use bunk or loft beds
to yield more open floor space.
Carpet, a large throw rug or
carpet squares can add a new
comfort to the tiled residence
hall floors. And careful shopping
can yield new carpet at reasona
ble prices. Lincolnland Carpet Co.,
211 S. 84th St., offers a discount
on remnants and red tag specials
for students. Prices range from
$25 to $1 50, manager Kathy Kush
ner said.
Carpet may keep the floor
warm, but to cool your soda, a
rented refrigerator might be the
answer. Students can rent or buy
a sms.ll refrigerator. 2 cubic feet.
3 V4 cubic feet or 5 cubic feet, from P
the University Housmg Depart
ment, through the Campus Equip
ment Company. The refrigerators
are rented out for one or two
semesters. Prices range from
$22.50 for a small refrigerator for
one semester to $79 for the large
refrigerator for the school year,
said Jill Graham, secretary at
Campus Equipment Company.
