Harvey Marshall, from Northeastern Junior Col lege in Sterling, Colo., told NU Coach Moc lb a he would sign a national letter-of-intent with the Huskers Thursday. Marshall, a 6-3 guard, was the second-leading scorer in the National Jun ior College Tournament in Hutchinson, Kan., with 97 points. For the season, Marshall averaged 23 points a game. His team was rated eighth in nat ional junior college rank ings. NU Baseball Coach John Sanders signed three jun ior college transfers. Pitch ers Bill Mulligan and in-fielder-outfMder Larry Minis play for Indian Hills Community College in Centerville, Iowa. Both were selected by the New York Mets in major league baseball's 1934 January draft. Brett Beede is an un drafted right-handed pitcher from Plymouth, N.H. Beede was 11-3 with a 2.10 earned run aver age for Allen County Com munity College in Iola, Kan., last spring. Pitcher Lori Sipple, who led the Canadian national softball team to the Pan American Games Gold medal, signed a letter-of-intent Monday to play with the Nebraska wom en's softball team. Sipple sports an 0.31 earned-run average dur ing the 1983 softball sea son. She struck out 320 in 2 13 V3 innings, walking just 29. Sipple turned down of fers from defending nation al champion Texas A&M, South Carolina, Indiana and many California schools. Sipple saw outstand ing play in four sports. The Stratford, Ontario native turned down an offer from Texas A&M last year for her 13th year of school a college prepa tory year. Women's crew is first in Big Eight Nebraska's women's four-man crew squad finished first at the Big Eight championships this past weekend in Lawrence, Kan. The crew, consisting of Patty Koener, Sydney Mosely, Lynne Gillaspie, Denise Varner and coxswain Lynne Wusk, defeated Kansas by a full boat length to win their race. UNL's men, in the lightweight four-man race, finished second to Kansas State. The Nebraska oarsmen led most of the race but were over taken by KSU in the final 100 meters and lost by .12 scconcb. In the men's four-man heavyweight race, Nebraska finished second again to Kansas State. The Huskers were third in the eight-man lightweight race.
