Freeman listed former Iowa wrestler Lennie Zal esky and Iowa State wrestler Nate Carr as major Olympic contend ers. Freeman is currently a graduate assistant with the Nebraska wrestling program. Besides assist ing Nebraska wrestlers with technique and style, Freeman said he helps with recruiting. Despite his responsibil ities, Freeman said he still has ample time to train. He said assistant Olym pic wrestling Coach Stan Dziedziz has been helping him. But Freeman said train ing on his own has advant ages and disadvantages. "It's an advantage most of the time because you can do what you want," he said. "But you don't have a coach on your back who makes you train hard er." Fehrs said that because Freeman has been out of collegiate wrestling for some time, it could work to his disadvantage. "He hasn't had the op portunity to wrestle every weekend," he said. Freeman disagreed. He said not wrestling con stantly could work to his advantage. ; -v- Because Olympic wrestl ing is freestyle and not collegiate style, Freeman said he has been able to concentrate on just the one style of wrestling and not both. The main difference bet ween free and collegiate style wrestling is that pins must be held and each period begins with wrestl ers on the mat instead of on their feet.- , If recent performance is any indication, it would appear that Freeman has mastered the freestyle technique. Freeman par ticipated in a club cup in Chicago recently against American, Bulgarian, Cu ban and Canadian wres tlers and won. He now just needs to do some things he has never dene , before and Freeman will ;.: be California-bound.",'. ; MB t V 'I U- j1- f ' selected Bruce Crowther, a junior from Lincoln, will be Herbie Husker.
