'Dead'

Bad news, rock fans. Despite our trumpeting the good news
a week or so ago, the Grateful Dead concert has apparently
fallen through. The Dead had originally been scheduled for
Nov. 1 1 at Pershing.
However, the auditorium was booked for that night. An
attempt to get the concert moved into the University Coliseum
was nixed by the Dead's management.
That November week, however, will stil! be a full one.
Uriah Heep and Savoy Brown will be at Pershing on Monday,
Nov. 6, and Wayne Cochran and his C.C. Riders will be at the
Royal Grove the following night.
More cancellation news. The International Circus and Ice
Show which was to have been at Pershing this weekend has
canceled its performances. The show's star, Karl Wallenda,
injured himself in a fall a couple of weeks ago and hasn't
recovered sufficiently for the show to go on.

That means circus fans will have to make the trip to Omaha
to see the Ringling Bros, and Barnum & Bailey Circus The
Greatest Show on Earth" opens Wednesday at the Omaha
Civic Auditorium. There will be 10 performances during the
show's stay-through next Sunday
The Union Special Films Committee is sponsoring a visit by
internationally known German experimental writer, film
maker, and mixed-media artist, KRIWET. His presentation, at
7 p.m. Tuesday at Sheldon, will include free movies, tapes and
a discussion.
Works by KRIWET are also included, with those of Mary
Ellen Solt. in the Sheldon exhibition of Concrete Poetry.
Sheldon also has a fine show-the National Exhibition of
Prints-hanging until November 5.
The Front Page opens at Howell Memorial Theatre Friday
night. It's the initial performance of the initial show of the
season for Howell. Performance dates are Oct. 20, 21 and 23
through the 28th.
And the Weekend Film features Richard Harris as A Man
Called Horse.

Tuesday night at 8 p.m. the Lincoln Symphony Orchestra
Association will bring the Bach Aria Group to town. The first
concert of the season will be at Wesleyan's O'Donnell
Auditorium. .
The Bach Aria Group is a urirtjDe organization which has
won its reputation through concerts, readings, radio and TV
broadcasts, and films. The group "ibomposed of nine
celebrated artists who have come together to present the most
tuneful music of Johann Sebastian Bacrr
TV Guide: Monday, 9 p.m. on Ctf The sixth annual
Country Music Association Awards. GTt.f Campbell is host to
the live broadcast from the Grand Ole Opry. Scheduled
participants include: Merle Haggard, Ray Price, Chet Atkins,
Roy Acuff, Bill Monroe and lots more.
Saturday, 10:30 p.m. on CBS. Mush, Hush. Sweet Charlotte
features Bette Davis and Olivia DeHaviland in mayhem,
