The Doily Nebraskan Wednesday, October 13, 1965 Pog 4 Nebraska's James Bond has nothing on the Nebraska Cornhuskers when it comes to detective wort. Last week, as the Huskers prepared to play Wisconsin, they had the ingredients for first-class "spy" thriller. Coach Bob Devaney doesn't really worry about spies, and he can't close the regular practices anyway because the Huskers drill below a high bank usually lined with Interested fans. While Coaches Mike Cor gan and Carl Selmer were running the offensive unit through its paces beneath the bank, they got the first word of trouble. Ernie Swanson Ceresco businessman, fishing buddy of Corgan and stout Husker booste was the first to detect the espionage. He ap proached Corgan .and quiet ly told him: "There's a guy up on the hill with a camera, and he's shooting p i c t u r e s of prac tice." Corgan and Selmer noncha lantly stole glances up on the bank and, sure enough, a myterious man was snap ping away on every play. "Holy smokes," Corgan whispered. "Get coach De vaney we ve caught a live one." "I can't handle this mat ter personally," Devaney mused. "It doesn't sound like something Milt Bruhn would pull, but we can't take chances you find out who he is." So off dashed Husker agent 00, student manager Eddie Johnson of Cozad. With the poise of an OSS veteran and the stealth of Apache, Johnson crept up be hind the mystery camera man. "I'm sorry, Sir, this is it!" Eddie growled. "Sir, Coach Devaney has asked me to check your identification." Shoulders sagging, the cul prit grudingly produced his I.D. tags: Charles Richnaf sky of Clairton, Pa. Huskers Lead Colorado Tops Levels in four of the six team satistical categories In the Big Eight Conference are running higher than anything posted in the league for the last eight seasons according to figures released today by the Conference's Service Bu reau. Taking the trip farthest back in the record book is Colorado's pressuring ground defense, which shows an av erage of 65.3 yards a game. This is the best since Okla homa led the nation with a 55.6 mark in 1949; the second year the Buffs were in the Conference. However, Colorado isn't alone in this category in this WELEX A DIVISION OF HALLIBURTON CO. The objectives and edu cational philosophy of this Program are In the best of academic traditions, designed for both experi enced and new engineers, Like other Western Electric engineers, Jim started out In this Program with a six-week course to help in the transition from the classroom to Industry. Since then, Jim Brown has continued to take courses that will help him keep up with the newest engineering techniques In communications.
