Friday, May 21, 1965 Pageant To Crown First 'Miss U of N' rounccn cocas will com pete in the first Miss Uni versity of Nebraska Pageant Sunday for the honor of re presenting the University in the Miss Nebraska contest in York June 17-20. Mary Lee Jepscn, the 1963 Miss Nebraska, is in charge of the pagent which will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday in the Nebraska Union ballroom. Contestants will be judged on the basis of personality, talent and beauty. The win ner will compete in the state contest next month for the honor of representing Nebras ka in the Miss America con test at Atlantic City. The University pageant is being sponsored by the Uni versity of Nebraska Miss America Association com posed of coeds who have com peted in previous Miss Ameri- Students Laying Plans A group of students at the University are considering the formation of a new hon orary club, to be known as the NU Jessies. Carl Curtis was honored for his meri torious service to the people of Nebraska. Former Vice-president Rich ard M. Nixon and scores of Congressmen from other states joined in the plaudits. The underlying theme in the greater majority of the short speeches was that our founding fathers intended to have a government of checks and balances, so it is impera tive that more Republicans be elected to Congress.
