Page 4 Wednesday, September 23, 1964 The Daily Nebraskan S3 3 Joel Meier Is New Intramural Director Joel Meier is the new in tramural director for the Uni versity of Nebraska, replae ing Ed Higginbotham. Meier is a 1962 University graduate, possesses a bache lor's degree in Physical Ed ucation, and a double mas ter's in school administration and physical education. He has spent the past six months working with the De velopmental Office of the Peace Corps in Puerto Rico. Meier said that Nebraska has one of the best intramu ral programs in the country; both in numbers of partici pants and in the number of individual sports offered. Asked whether he had some new programs to institute, Meier said that he did have some new ideas that might be implemented but that he would wait until he fully un derstood the workings of the program before he tried any thing new. Former intramurals direo tor Higmbotham will work closely with Meier this year. Meier expressed some con cern that some of the Uni versity students were net fully aware of all of the advantages that the Intramural program offers. "The University pays for an intramural director and for personnel to help him, and the students are missing a good bet by not taking fuller ad vantage of the programs," he said.
