Kansas ought to be fighting
mad about this time.
The Jayhawks, after taking
the Big Eight preseason tour
nament, haven't won a con
ference game yet, and the
Huskers have the distinct
pleasure of facing Kansas to
morrow night at Allen Field
house in Lawrence.
Thus far Kansas has been
beaten by Colorado (a team

Seniors Mike Fleming and
Fred Wilke were elected co
captains of the University
track team Friday afternoon,
according to Coach Frank
Sevigne.
Fleming is the current hold
er of the Big Eight indoor
2-mile crown, the outdoor
mile, and the cross country
championship. The veteran
runner is a native of Balti
more, Md.
Wilke, who hails from Oma
ha, won the conference low
hurdle title last year with a

the highs. He also owns a
high jump mark of 6-4.
of the, tournament), Iowa
State and underdog Missouri
feats which dropped the
KU record to 7-7.
The Jayhawks have added
power this year with the ad
dition of soph George Unseld.
Unseld has improved so much
that he now carries an aver
age point per game total
over his high school record.
The Jayhawks also have
Nolan Ellison, a fine senior
guard who played in all 60
minutes of the championship
game against K-State, in the
backcourt.
Nebraska may have a slight
psychological advantage over
KU since the Huskers have
tripped Kansas in its last two
outings in Allen Fieldhouse.
Coach Jerry Bush will start
the same crew that started
against K-State with I van
Grupe and Charlie Jones at
the forwards; Bill Vincent at
center; and Daryl Petsch and
Earl Wright at the guards.
NU's mermen will make
their home debut tomorrow
at 3 p.m. in the Coliseum
when they take on Denver.
The Cornhuskers, looking
for their first win over a Den
ver swimming team, will face
a strong outfit, NU Assistant
Coach Les Roberts said.
NU has beaten Iowa, 58-47,
and lost to Indiana, 76-47,
thus far this season.
Jake Geier's gymnastics
team puts its unbeaten rec
ord on the line when it trav
els to Iowa State tomorrow.
The gymnasts have a 3-0
record with the latest victory
a 80-32 win over Colorado
State University.

Varsity chances are hampered
by the loss of Steve Walanz at

a slight shoulder separation
while absorbing his first dual

Bill Rosenthal will replace
Walenz who hopes to be ready
for the Colorado match com
