Bones Uncovered
In Western Hills
Two hills in western Ne
braska near Agate, known as
University and Carnegie,
have been found to contain a
motherlode of fossils so rich
that scientists speak of them
with awe.
A movement is now under
way, supported by scientists
at the University State Musu-
um, to make the Agate area
a national park.
The Museum has just
placed on display in Lincoln
a small portion of the rich
bone layer, a 2,000-pound slab
of soft sandstone encasing the
bones of prehistoric rhinocer
os that roamed Nebraska dur
ing Miocene time, roughly 16
million years ago.

Panhell Discusses Independents;, Greeks
Panhellenic delegates dis
cussed ways of improving Independent-Greek
women re
lations at the Monday Pan
hellenic meeting.
Discussing ideas that came
nut nf the Panhellenic-Inde-
pendent Women's Association
(IWA) workshop nera in con
nection with Panhellenic
Week, delegates expressed fa
vorable comment on some of
the suggestions.
Thev decided they would
like to see action taken to
sponsor exchange dinners be
tween Independent and Greek
houses once a month. A joint
style show In the spring is
also being planned.
Many of the girls favored
the idea expressed by Ruth
anne Chubbuck, "I'd rather
get to know the girls better
than to spend all of our time
organizing things like work
shops." In response to the idea of a
Women's World Week, Pan
hellenic delegates felt that the
project was too difficult to
undertake.
Miss Helen Snyder, Dean of
Women, said that a joint
project would be a good idea,
but urged the group not to
try to plan It in one year.
She suggested an eventual
program similar to the Inno
cents' Protege program. Dean
Synder also stressed that the
important thing is working to
gether. IWA has been invited to the
Panhellenic Christmas party.
